As the chilling sword intent exploded across the sky, everyone in Northwest City looked up.
The man in the blood-red cloak and black robe stood suspended in the air.
“Desolate Sky Sword God…” someone murmured, voice trembling.
At that moment, not only were the citizens stunned, even the disciples of the Huang Clan were in shock.
They stared at the figure above, unable to comprehend what was happening.
“He’s still alive. The Desolate Sky Sword God didn’t die after all, he survived the battle against Grand Emperor Yin Tian!”
“Right. I wonder what realm he’s reached by now…”
“Desolate Sky Sword God…” Elder Cang muttered softly, his expression growing serious.
Vast immortal energy surged from the Sword God’s body, his boundless aura flooding the heavens.
Members of the Huang Clan were overwhelmed with emotion.
“Ancestor…” an elderly clan member whispered with tears in his eyes.
That man once symbolized the golden era of the Huang Clan.
He carried the hopes of his people and set foot on the path to seize destiny itself.
People had watched him walk away with his black robe and crimson cloak, never to be seen again.
News had eventually reached them that Grand Emperor Yin Tian became the bearer of Heaven’s Will.
The Desolate Sky Sword God slowly turned his head. His black hair flowed in the breeze, his sword-like eyebrows and piercing eyes gleamed with fierce sword intent.
As he looked down at the Huang Clan disciples, a gentle smile formed on his face.
“So you’re not dead after all?” Elder Cang said flatly from the side.
“Do we know each other?” the Sword God asked with a smile.
“No, but your reputation precedes you,” Elder Cang replied calmly. “You just claimed: ‘Above the Sword Dao, I am invincible.’ That seems a bit excessive, no?”
“Oh?” the Sword God responded lightly. “And why’s that?”
“If you were truly invincible in swordsmanship, how did you lose to Grand Emperor Yin Tian?” Elder Cang challenged with a smirk.
“I lost to him, yes,” the Sword God replied calmly, “but my sword dao never lost.”
He slowly raised his sword.
In that instant, every sword in Northwest City hummed and trembled.
A terrifying sword intent erupted from his body, splitting the sky in two.
Nine spirit gates opened around him, forming a storm of sword energy that raged wildly.
“Since when did matters of the Huang Clan fall under your Heaven Ender’s authority?” he asked coldly.
His aura surged even higher, roaring into the sky.
Clang! A crisp sword cry rang out.
A blast of sword energy erupted from the tip, shaking the distant sky with booming echoes.
The massive sword storm swept across the sky.
Elder Cang’s expression turned grim. The flames behind him blazed fiercer than ever.
The fire clashed against the sword energy.
Boom! The entire sky was engulfed by violent shockwaves, dust spiraling like a mushroom cloud.
As the smoke settled, everyone looked up.
The Desolate Sky Sword God and Elder Cang stood face to face in the air.
The Sword God’s aura of immortal supremacy covered half the sky.
Elder Cang, despite being at the Arcane Immortal Realm, was nearly forced to his knees.
Suddenly, a streak of blood burst out.
Elder Cang’s arm was severed cleanly.
Blood sprayed from the wound.
“Desolate Sky… you’re declaring war on Heaven Ender,” he said, face ashen.
“This is your punishment for meddling in the Huang Clan’s affairs,” the Sword God replied calmly.
Elder Cang’s expression flickered darkly, but in the end, he could only let out a cold snort.
The Sword God turned his gaze to Yan Buhui.
Yan felt an immense pressure fall upon him, but he stood tall, looking directly into the Sword God’s eyes.
“You received my inheritance,” the Sword God said after a long moment.
Indeed, Yan Buhui had received the legacies of two Sword Gods, once unintentionally at True Martial Sacred Ground, and again after defeating Qin Feiming, from the Eternal Sword God.
“Yes, by chance, I inherited some of your teachings,” Yan replied.
“Then why turn against the family?” the Sword God asked.
Yan paused, then recounted the events briefly.
“The clan became my heart demon,” he said. “I had to sever it to free my mind. Only then could I continue walking the martial path.”
The Sword God was silent for a moment.
Then he said softly: “I won’t make it difficult for you. Leave now, and from this day forward, you have no ties to the Huang Clan.”
Yan turned and looked at the corpses littering the ground.
“I’ve already severed those ties,” he said quietly.
The Sword God watched him leave and sighed.
“A pity. He had great potential.”
He turned and swept his gaze over the Huang Clan’s high-ranking members, then walked into the clan grounds.
“Clean up these bodies. The rest of you, come inside, we have urgent matters to discuss.”
Yan Buhui had only walked a short distance when he ran into Xu Zimo.
He looked a little surprised.
“Congratulations,” Xu Zimo smiled. “You got your revenge.”
“Nothing to celebrate,” Yan shook his head. “They still have the Sword God.”
“You joined Heaven Ender?” Xu Zimo asked with interest.
“True Martial Sacred Ground wouldn’t help me, but Heaven Ender would. I’m sure you understand,” Yan replied. “But don’t worry, I’ll never forget what I owe you.”
As the two spoke, Elder Cang and Qin Chaotian descended from the sky.
Though Elder Cang had lost an arm, as an immortal, he would likely regenerate it soon.
This was why the Sword God spared his life, he didn’t want an outright war with Heaven Ender.
“Buhui, let’s return and discuss things further,” Qin Chaotian said gently.
“Uncle Qin, I no longer care about the Huang Clan,” Yan shook his head. “Those who needed to die are dead.”
“The Desolate Sky Sword God has insulted Heaven Ender,” Elder Cang said grimly. “I’ll report this to the headquarters.”
“I’ll visit Heaven Ender sometime,” Xu Zimo said with a smile to Yan Buhui.
And then, the two of them parted ways in Northwest City.
