Xie Xuanchen’s blood started to boil as he thought about the many vicious tricks played by the people in the palace on the two of them. He wanted to strangle all the people involved in this scheme at this very moment.
However, he barely managed to suppress the increasingly violent emotions in his heart with a few deep breaths and said to the young Taoist: “Can you take a look at one more thing? If you can distinguish its key ingredients, then no matter what you demand, I’ll fulfil your desire.”
Then Xie Xuanchen leaned over Mu Mingtang and whispered: “Mingtang, Jinger elixir.”
Mu Mingtang, who was still in a daze because of all the revelations, instantly reacted after hearing Xie Xuanchen’s words. She hurriedly took Jinger elixir out of the embroidery bag hanging around her waist.
Since Xie Xuanchen had suddenly relapsed last time, Mu Mingtang had been carrying the Jinger elixir with her for fear of encountering any other accidents. She didn’t know that there was actually a problem with the Jinger elixir itself until Xie Xuanchen told her about it today.
Mu Mingtang quickly handed it over to the Taoist after taking it out. The Taoist had been babbling all the time, but after he opened the brocade box, his facial expressions went under great changes.
Because of Taoist’s previous display of skills, Mu Mingtang had expected him to know about Jinger elixir too, so she looked at him with hopeful eyes.
The Taoist inspected the elixir closely. He even scraped off a small piece of it and put it in his mouth to try. In the end, he shook his head and told them the truth, shattering Mu Mingtang’s hopes. “My apologies. I cannot distinguish the key ingredients of this elixir.”
Mu Mingtang’s expression dropped, as she couldn’t hide her disappointment. However, the little Taoist didn’t pay attention to Xie Xuanchen and Mu Mingtang, and continued in a low voice: “Can you sell this elixir to me? I don’t mind exchanging the plaster I made with this elixir.”
After the little Taoist finished speaking, he eagerly looked at the pair of husband and wife, but when he realised their expressions were not right, he got scared.
“If… you don’t want my plasters, fortune-telling is also fine. If it’s not enough, how about you take back this silver ingot as well?” He said with a timid voice.
‘Huh? Why is he so adamant about getting Jinger elixir?’ Mu Mingtang frowned as she looked at the Taoist with a mixture of hidden anger and surprise.
“Why do you want to buy it?” Xie Xuanchen stared at the Taoist eyes as he tried to detect any abnormalities in the Taoist’s actions.
The Taoist was actually very frightened as Xie Xuanchen’s intense gaze which seemed to be able to see through everything fell on him, so he hesitated for a moment, and finally got a little courage to answer Xie Xuanchen’s question: “Because, this is something my dead master made, I want to keep it as a momento.”
