Jiang Honghao couldn’t bear the murderous look in Xie Xuanchen’s eyes and broke out in a cold sweat. He quickly bowed his head, mumbled a timid apology and sat back, intending to not say a single word again.
As Mu Mingtang was the adopted daughter of the Jiang family, it was still acceptable for Jiang Honghao to speak. However, no one else dared to speak a word as it was connected to the Royal family.
The Empress saw the situation turning worse. This incident could leave a black mark on the royal family’s history in the public eye.
The Empress smiled and took the initiative to speak, “We are one big family. Prince An is His Majesty’s closest junior and Court Official Jiang is a pillar of the imperial court.”
After saying this, the Empress picked up a wine cup and said, “Prince An and Court Official Jiang, let’s make a toast. Let’s not hurt the family’s harmony because of some trivial matters.”
Unfortunately, Xie Xuanchen refused to make a move, not even giving the Empress a face, as Jiang Honghao promptly raised his glass to express his gratitude.
It was naive of the Empress to expect Xie Xuanchen to give her face. In his eyes, there was no difference between Jiang Honghao and the Empress.
The Empress definitely took herself too seriously, as she believed she had a higher position and tried to pressure Xie Xuanchen to give in. However, Xie Xuanchen refused to even look at her. She met the same fate as Jiang Honghao.
Ye Luyan first looked at the Emperor and Empress, then at Xie Xuanchen, and vaguely saw the truth behind their relationship.
‘Oh~ This is the reason we haven’t heard about Xie Xuanchen for many years. Hmm… It seems there are conflicts among the royal family.’
Ye Luyan was interested in putting his spy next to Xie Xuanchen because he had a plan to execute. However, if it wasn’t possible to place Wanyan Duo next to him, someone else would also do the job.

Silently, Mu Mingtang turned to face Xie Xuanchen. Xie Xuanchen had a laid-back demeanour.
When Xie Xuanchen heard Ye Luyan had the guts to continue bringing up this topic, he became a little irritated and said, “Haven’t I already refused? Why do you insist on stuffing someone with me? I don’t like any of them. Give them to anyone you like. Do not bother me again.”
Ye Luyan almost choked as he replied in frustration, “I initially thought that Prince An just didn’t like Wanyan Duo, but now it seems that Prince An actually despises us, Beirong. What Prince An did is extremely rude to us.”
Seeing that this incident would badly affect peace talks if it was not stopped in time, the Prime Minister Song hurriedly got up and tried to make amends, “It’s such a lovely day. Let’s put out the fire so that this disagreement doesn’t affect the peace talks.”
Unfortunately, he received no attention from Xie Xuanchen and Ye Luyan.
