Another person joined the conversation, “Oh, it turned out to be the carriage of someone from the royal family. No wonder they didn’t have to get down from the carriage.”
Everyone stretched their necks to look around, hoping to find some clues as this conversation caused quite a stir among the crowd. It was a pity that the carriage was long and nothing could be done to confirm whether it was really Prince An’s carriage.
By this time, Xie Xuanchen and Mu Mingtang had already reached their destination. After they got down from their carriage, an eunuch greeted them from the Water Heart Palace: “This servant greets Prince An and Princess An. May heavens bless you two with prosperity, health, wealth, happiness throughout your life.”
As male and female guests had to go separate places, Xie Xuanchen went to the place where the male guests were meeting after sending his wife to the place where female guests were supposed to stay.
The three-storey-tall Shuixin pavilion was located in the middle of Jinming Lake. The fact that the other small pavilions were connected to the Shuixin pavilion by passageways was really impressive.
As the dragon boat competition had not yet started, the female guests sitting around spent a relaxing time by either enjoying the scenery, or had formed groups to chat with each other.
When Mu Mingtang walked inside, everyone saw her and greeted her. Since Mu Mingtang didn’t need to greet them one by one, she just nodded with a smile as a response and walked all the way to the third floor.
The third floor had the best view, so the Empress, the Empress Dowager, and the other royal family members were resting there.
Whenever female guests came to Shuixin pavilion, they would first come to greet the Empress and the Empress Dowager.
The Empress and the Empress Dowager, who were listening to the officials’ wives talking, suddenly heard a court lady outside reporting: “Princess An has arrived.”
The hall became quiet hearing the court lady’s words. The Empress still had a kind and generous expression, but her eyes seemed to be hiding displeasure: “You are finally here Princess An. The queen mother was just talking about you.”
A stunning woman wearing silvery-purple clothing entered calmly and in a collected manner as the maid opened the curtains, taking everyone’s breath away.
Mu Mingtang was dressed in a long, purple skirt with a faint silver shine and a white jacket. Her hair was perfectly styled with few accessories, and the most noticeable item was a hairpin with a transparent gemstone inset.
The noble female guests were all upset and filled with questions after witnessing Mu Mingtang’s clothes. They couldn’t help but think, ‘What kind of fabric is this? Why haven’t I seen it before?’
