The Emperor pondered for a moment before he smiled and said, “It’s rare for the 8th Prince to have such an elegant mood. Since the 8th prince likes it, I don’t see a problem as a host. But, how does the 8th Prince plan to play?”
After the Emperor finished speaking, Mu Mingtang felt Ye Luyan look in their direction as he suddenly said, “I have heard the name of King of Qiyang for a long time in Beirong. Today, I am willing to have a match with you.”
After his declaration, the audience became quiet. Immediately after, everyone’s eyes turned to Xie Xuanchen.
Unlike everyone else, Xie Xuanchen was not surprised at all when he heard his own name being called out. His expression was still very calm as he casually glanced at Ye Luyan, lightly refusing, “No.”
Xie Xuanchen’s attitude annoyed Ye Luyan and as the 8th Prince’s expression darkened, he asked, “Why?”
The Emperor frowned slightly and he glanced at Xie Xuanchen indifferently. Just as Xie Xuanchen refused, the Emperor immediately answered, “Unfortunately, since Prince An is unwilling to, then let’s forget about it. The 8th Prince might as well find someone else.”
Ye Luyan was proficient in Han dialect and had been exposed to Han culture, but he was a Khitan after all. Ye Luyan was also a Prince in Beirong, so although he was not the most powerful among his brothers, there was absolutely no reason for him to be slapped in the face repeatedly. Xie Xuanchen had provoked him several times and Ye Luyan just about had it when he asked, “Since Prince An is unwilling, there’s naturally no reason for me to keep insisting. However, is Prince An perhaps not as daring as I thought or do you fear losing?”
“Losing?” Xie Xuanchen didn’t intend to answer him at first, but when he heard Ye Luyan claim that he was afraid of losing, he smiled very lightly. As he turned to Ye Luyan, his eyes were full of cold disdain, “I, Xie Xuanchen, do not understand the word fear. You all are too weak, which is why none of you are suited to be my opponent.”
Mu Mingtang gasped when she heard this. She maintained her cool and calm personality, but she was desperately pulling onto Xuanchen’s sleeves under her own wide ones.
That’s about enough, don’t go too far.
The Khitans were people who specialised in martial arts, so if even Mu Mingtang couldn’t stand to listen to him, how would the Beirong people feel? Ye Luyan was furious when he heard this as he stood up and said in a loud voice, “There is a saying amongst the Hans, which is ‘all talk and no action’. I advise Prince An to not make things up, but if you have the ability, let us meet on the field.”
Xie Xuanchen also nodded with a smile and said, “Okay, since you insist on humiliating yourself, then I will accompany you to the end.”
As both Xie Xuanchen and Ye Luyan stood up, the atmosphere in the field suddenly changed as if there were tiny electric sparks bursting in the air. The Beirong people were incited by this atmosphere as they stood up in fear, “8th Prince, I will stand on the field with you.”
“I am coming too!”
