Xie Xuanji’s plan was actually really well-thought. He planned to deliberately give the ball to the Beirong team in the beginning, but at the last moment, he would turn the tide and became the hero who turned defeat into victory in one fell swoop. However, a plan was still nothing more than an idea, so when it was actually implemented, Xie Xuanji realised that there was a big problem.
Xie Xuanchen was…too strong.
He really didn’t bother to cooperate with his teammates throughout the whole process. He battled against 5 opponents by himself, overwhelming Ye Luyan and others. The pace of the game was completely taken away by Xie Xuanchen and Xie Xuanji watched with despair as their team’s score rose at a steady rate. In the end, their team had managed to set up 12 flags.
Which meant that they had won 12 victories in a row.
It wasn’t ideal to be Xie Xuanchen’s opponent, but being Xie Xuanchen’s teammate didn’t feel much better either. Xie Xuanji gave up trying from the second half. With such a monster around, what else could he do when all eyes were on Xie Xuanchen throughout the whole game?
Their teammate who was at the end of the line was even starting to trot around the field leisurely as if this was an outing.
Now that he Xie Xuanji thought about it, it was a rather embarrassing turn of events. First, the Emperor had asked Xie Xuanchen who he wanted as teammates, to which he replied that it was whatever. All of them, including the Emperor, assumed that Xie Xuanchen said so due to the strength of the enemy team and since their choices were full of civil servants, it didn’t matter which one was selected. They finally understood that Xie Xuanchen was simply implying that he didn’t require any teammates at all since there was no need for them.
As Xie Xuanchen scored 12 goals in a row, Ye Luyan’s expression became even uglier. He glanced to the side, seeing that there was only a small stick of incense left and it was about to burn out entirely.
Initially, Ye Luyan strived to win; then halfway through, his goals changed to not wanting to lose that badly. At this point in time, he simply desired not to end up with 0 points as Xie Xuanchen foretold.
This was not funny at all.
As the 13th match began, both sides were well aware that time was running out and this was their last game.
Ye Luyan and the others almost resorted to offence tactics— as soon as they heard the sound of the gong, they immediately rushed out like vicious wolves. They guarded Xie Xuanchen with desperation, but this time, the target stayed where he was without moving an inch.
He looked at the time from a distance before he patted his horse. Then, he turned around and walked back.
Behind them, the Beirong people were fiercely competing while Xie Xuanchen turned his back to both his teammates and opponents, strolling leisurely towards the outside of the court.
