Mu Mingtang was indeed hungry, so she nodded. Just as she was about to support herself to get up, her hands buckled and she almost fell down. Xie Xuanchen quickly supported her with sharp eyes and simply carried her horizontally, “You don’t have the strength now; let me do it.”
When the maids received the notification, they had already prepared some meals in the East room. Suddenly, they saw the Prince coming out with the Princess in his arms as everyone immediately lowered their heads, not daring to cast a glance.
The two servants who went out with Mu Mingtang yesterday initially assumed that the royal couple would return soon, but they didn’t expect for them to not show up even after a long time had passed. They were worried and didn’t know what to do when they suddenly saw the Prince coming back with someone in his arms.
The person in his arms was tightly wrapped in a cloak and the Prince’s coat could be vaguely seen through the gap. Wearing the Prince’s clothes and having the Princess’s clothes draped over her, the servants. They didn’t know why the Princess was fine when she went out but became like this upon returning. The servants didn’t dare to ask as they merely filled some water, prepared the change of clothes before leaving the main palace. During the entire process, they didn’t even dare to overhear a single sentence, let alone sneak a glance.
Mu Mingtang slept for the entire day. It wasn’t until the servants had entered to change the water several times and even replaced the food twice until she woke up. The servants watched their actions and dutifully carried out their tasks without prying. After the food was arranged, they all retreated obediently without needing Xie Xuanchen to ask them to.
Mu Mingtang actually wanted to get down from the bed and walk by herself since she didn’t think that it was that serious. However, Xie Xuanchen’s strength was too great. Last night, she knew that she wasn’t able to break free. Nevertheless, being unable to move today and realising that her limbs had no intentions of relaxing, she gave up eventually.
After Xie Xuanchen carried Mu Mingtang to the arhat bed and did even more. He picked up the chopsticks and asked Mu Mingtang what she wanted to eat, as if he was going to feed her. Naturally, the girl was frightened by the gesture and insistently opposed it. In the end, she drove Xie Xuanchen away and grabbed the utensils to eat.
Xie Xuanchen was very sorry as he sat at the seat across from her and watched Mu Mingtang eat, looking at the way her red lips opened and closed frequently. During this period, Mu Mingtang licked her lower lip out of reflex as Xie Xuanchen stared at the pink tip of her tongue. Disappearing back into her mouth in a split second, her lips were now slightly stained with water, glistening with glaze. Xie Xuanchen’s eyes gradually darkened as his Adam’s apple rolled involuntarily.
Mu Mingtang didn’t notice all of that as she was extremely focused on the food. When she was almost full, she looked up and saw Xie Xuanchen staring at her motionlessly. Startled, she asked, “What are you looking at?”
After Mu Mingtang finished speaking, he instinctively became vigilant without reason. She was no stranger to Xie Xuanchen’s gaze. Last night, he looked like this as well. His gaze was focused and dark, glinting with an obviousness that was capable of scaring others.
Xie Xuanchen somehow managed to restrain himself as he asked, “Are you full?”
