Xie Xuanji was in a bad mood and his powerlessness trapped him like a waterweed, almost suffocating him. After he returned to the palace, he summoned the servant and asked, “Did any large events happen in the palace today?”

As for Jiang Mingwei’s strange behaviour, Xie Xuanji saw this coming before, so he wasn’t shocked by the report.
Jiang Mingwei had been preparing to escape a long time ago. After hearing the news of the fall of Suicheng on New Year’s Eve, she made no secret of it and frantically hoarded supplies. Jiang Mingwei’s behaviour clearly meant that she believed the capital could not be defended and would fall sooner or later. Hence, she hurriedly prepared what she needed to escape. Because Jiang Mingwei acted this way, other people in the palace were influenced by it and started panicking as well.
Although Xie Xuanji was not happy that Jiang Mingwei had made it clear that she did not trust the royal court, he also tacitly approved of her actions. After all, it was a good thing to be cautious. If it ever did come to that point, the more provisions and items that Jiang Mingwei was able to secure, the more likely it was for Xie Xuanji to survive.
But after the news of Xie Xuanchen’s victory spread back to the capital, many people were shocked. Ye Luji withdrew his troops, the danger in the capital was lifted and they no longer had to flee. In the past, Xie Xuanji tacitly allowed Jiang Mingwei to prepare to escape. Now that the crisis has been lifted, Xie Xuanji’s dark thoughts seemed to be suddenly exposed to the sun, which made him appear cowardly and despicable.
Xie Xuanji became angry. He refused to admit that he was incompetent, so he immediately shifted all responsibilities to Jiang Mingwei. Everything she did was all because she couldn’t understand the general situation— the dignified Princess was so greedy to stay alive and had been extremely fearful of death, which in turn damaged the reputation of King Jin’s palace.
Once Xie Xuanji thought this way, the people under him also followed suit. In fact, they were also secretly preparing to escape, but since nothing happened, everyone automatically despised the Princess for being timid, afraid of death and criticised her for living without integrity.
Jiang Mingwei didn’t know what other people in the palace thought of her. Right now, her mind was filled with disbelief.
She was ready to escape, but suddenly, she heard the news that they had won the battle. Today, it was said that Xie Xuanchen even crossed the river in pursuit of Ye Luji. Things didn’t play out like this in her previous life though.
