Xie Xuanchen hugged Mu Mingtang’s waist hard before he finally picked up his sword and strode outside. Mu Mingtang stood in the hall and watched him push the door open against the sunlight. The sun shone on him, reflecting the sparkling starlight on the silver armour.
Only by deterring powerful enemies from outside and suppressing the royals from the inside could he be worthy of his title as Marquis of Wu’an. When Mu Mingtang first married him, Beirong and Xixia were surrounding them and the Sixteen Prefectures of Youyun were still in the hands of foreign powers. But now, the north had been unified, Youyun was in their hands, cattle were everywhere outside the walls and the people lived and worked in peace alongside contentment. Only the southern court, which separated the lands with a river, was still standing.
Mu Mingtang’s eyes seemed to be filled with tears. It seemed that everyone else was wrong— her Wu’an had indeed made it. He made this happen.
