Xie Xuanchen stood beside Mu Mingtang and suddenly asked, “Do you know each other?”
Mu Mingtang and Xie Xuanji were both shocked and denied together, “No.”
Xie Xuanchen smiled, apparently accepting their words for now and stopped asking. Mu Mingtang suddenly felt a sense of fear. Even if she and Xie Xuanji were not good enough at masking their expressions, they were once an Empress and Emperor. Other than the initial slip-up, they had immediately reverted back to their public personas. Even so, despite being only 13 years old, Xie Xuanchen was able to catch the smallest rift in their expressions.
Mu Mingtang felt a strong fear. She had only met Xie Xuanchen once in her previous life. When she married into the royal family, Xie Xuanchen had died and his legendary feats had disappeared along with him. By then, all Mu Mingtang knew was that Xie Xuanji had a very powerful cousin. If it weren’t for his death, no one really knew who the throne was going to be inherited by.
Now, Mu Mingtang believed that the rumour had not been exaggerated by the people in the palace.
The Second Brother’s family had taken his wife and children to seek refuge while also bringing along the neighbouring Jiang family. Madam Yin was sincerely happy to see so many people coming. She eagerly pulled Mu Mingtang over and let the younger generations get to know each other, “It’s rare to see so many children in our family. Mingtang and Xuanchen have already met, but what about you guys? What are your names and how old are you?”
Xie Xuanji knew that they still needed to rely on Xie Yi and Madam Yin, so he replied respectfully, “Greetings, Aunt Yin. My name is Xie Xuanji and I’m 13 years old this year.”
Jiang Mingwei was frightened by everything that was happening in front of her. She saw a gentle and beautiful lady, who was more noble than the portraits she had seen, asking her questions. She was so scared that she couldn’t speak properly, “My…My name is Jiang Mingwei and I’m 10 years old this year.”
Madam Yin nodded, as if she had some train of thought, “It seems that Xuanchen is the oldest, Xuanji is the second and Mingtang is the youngest,” Madam Yin looked at Xie Xuanchen after she finished speaking, “You are the oldest among these little ones, so don’t bully others and take care of Mingtang more often.”
Madam Yin thought that this brat would be impatient about it, but she didn’t expect Xie Xuanchen to agree. Madam Yin was surprised and looked at her son properly.
Why did he change his personality today?
Mu Mingtang was a bit amused when she heard Madam Yin asking Xie Xuanchen to take care of her. After all, she was reborn and she was not a 9-year-old child. Xie Xuanchen seemed more like a younger brother to her at this point, and yet he was the one who had to take care of her?
Mu Mingtang agreed to disagree.
Xie Xuanji was in a similar mood. In fact, Xie Xuanji felt uncomfortable seeing Xie Xuanchen. In his impression, Xie Xuanchen was always a suffocating Demon King. He suppressed people with his harsh civil, military affairs, strategies and appearance.
