Xie Xuanji had the impression that Jiang Mingwei was calm and generous in his previous life, so he had never expected that she would be so sensitive and suspicious when she was a child. Mu Mingtang’s family was engaged in businesses and trades. Although the status of a businessman was not high, their family was well-off. After all, Mu Mingtang never lacked money to spend. Her writing brush, ink, paper and inkstone were not lacking even when placed in comparison to the Xie family.
On the other hand, the Jiang family lacked far behind. Jiang Mingwei entered the school with the help of Xie Xuanji. Madam Yin had prepared a study for Xie Xuanji, but not for Jiang Mingwei, so she had to rely on her family for that. Moreover, the expenses of the school were not just about writing brushes, inks, paper and inkstones.
There was also clothes, food, utensils…in all aspects, there was too much to think about.
Jiang Mingwei originally felt inferior because her appearance was not as good as Mu Mingtang’s. Now, Mu Mingtang had more pocket money than her, was more liked by Madam Yin than her, and was even favoured by the Young Master of the Xie family more than she was. Jiang Mingwei became increasingly dark and inferior in comparison.
All she had left was Brother Ji. Jiang Mingwei clung to Xie Xuanji a lot more, leading to him often trying to comfort and help her out. Initially, Xie Xuanji felt pity for her once or twice, but after so many times, he gradually began to get tired of the negative energy exuded by Jiang Mingwei.
In fact, Xie Xuanji’s current situation was not that great. He clearly remembered that in his previous life, after their family came to the capital, all of their expenses were paid by the Xie Residence. Plus, although Xie Xuanji’s food and clothing expenses then were not inferior to Xie Xuanchen. But now, though Madam Yin was still gentle and kind to their family, she never mentioned anything about money despite her caring nature.
It was as if she had forgotten. Xie Xuanji had asked his mother to discreetly ask about it for a long time, and yet, Madam Yin looked at them gently every time. However, she never said out loud that their expenses would be covered by the Xie Residence.
Xie Xuanji ate and lived in the residence, so he really didn’t need to spend a lot of extra cash for that. Nevertheless, he was still really short of money in other aspects. Xie Xuanji’s situation was actually not much better than Jiang Mingwei.
Especially with Xie Xuanchen in front of him for comparison. Xie Xuanchen’s expenses were really extravagant and it was as clear as day that he spent a lot.
The teacher finished teaching the class and went to the next room to moisten his throat, leaving the four of them to rest for a while. Mu Mingtang was sorting out the content of the class when she suddenly heard some movement from Xie Xuanchen’s side. She looked up in surprise and saw Xie Xuanchen pushing open the window, looking like he was going to jump out.
Finding Mu Mingtang looking at him in astonishment, Xie Xuanchen smiled very calmly and said, “When the teacher asks about it later, just say that my mother asked me to leave.”
Did he think that the teacher is blind? As someone who obeyed the rules all her life, she never expected that there would be someone like Xie Xuanchen.
Xie Xuanchen jumped out of the window in front of the group and in just the blink of an eye, he scaled over the wall and left. Despite his disappearance, the servants in the Xie Residence didn’t seem to realise anything was wrong.
