Fang Chen observed the man before him, whom Wang Hu referred to as the Day Walker God, Du Yunxu.
The aura surrounding Du Yunxu was indeed many times stronger than that of someone like Wang Hu. However, compared to Fang Chen, he was behind by at least a major realm.
Fang Chen pondered for a moment. He then asked, "Sir, could you have possibly mistaken me for someone else?"
Mistaken him? thought Wang Hu.
His spirit lifted, and his eyes filled with hope as he looked at Du Yunxu.
Surely, it must be a mistake! It must be!
He couldn't fathom the consequences if the man he had threatened turned out to be a Day Walker Monarch—what would happen to him then?
Du Yunxu presented Fang Chen with a document and respectfully said, "Day Walker Monarch, this is the decree that was just issued. My subordinate was specifically sent to deliver it. Please take a look and see if it bears your name."
Fang Chen took it and opened it. Sure enough, the name "Fang Chen" was written inside.
Compared to the red and gold armor Du Yunxu wore, Fang Chen's purple-gold armor seemed even more regal and imposing.
Wang Hu, panicked and trembling, collapsed to the ground, his voice quivering in fear. "This humble one, Wang Hu, greets the Day Walker Monarch!"
There could be no mistake now. This Yin Monarch armor was only worn by the various Yin Monarchs in the Underworld and could not be worn by anyone else—no one else qualified.
It wasn't unprecedented for a Day Walker to become a Day Walker Monarch. In fact, many of the Yin Monarchs in the Underworld had once been Day Walkers! Because of this, the government had a rule of not intervening in matters between Day Walkers, likely to avoid offending a Day Walker who might become their superior in the future.
Wang Hu began to regret his actions deeply and kept cursing himself internally. If he had followed the rules, he wouldn't have ended up in this situation today, offending his highest superior.
It seems... this was the handiwork of that person from the Spiritual Killing Division, huh? They really do value me as a pawn…. Fang Chen thought silently.
He felt increasingly curious about how powerful the Killing Spiritual Division's influence in the Underworld might be. This was his first time undergoing the Soul Crossing Ritual yet he had already been promoted. This position was quite significant too.
Du Yunxu said respectfully, "Day Walker Monarch, since you've just been appointed, you may not be fully familiar with your duties. Would you like me to elaborate?"
Fang Chen nodded lightly. "Go ahead."
He was still absorbing the power granted by the Purple Golden Armor. After putting it on, the Yin energy that had been constantly flowing into him increased a hundredfold. Not only that, but he could even see through the layers of space, witnessing the countless struggling souls in the Forgotten River below.
Additionally, he could see there were numerous ethereal bridges above the Forgotten Riven, with countless wandering souls crossing them. One of the bridges stood out, grand and majestic beyond description, guarded by heavily armed soldiers.
Everything seemed to be right before his eyes, but it was incredibly distant. He could only perceive it now.
Du Yunxu solemnly shared, "The Nether Guards Division has one Chief Officer, with one Night Walker Monarch and one Day Walker Monarch."
"These three officials are of equal rank in the Underworld. The Chief Officer manages the Nether Guards, suppresses rebellions, and battles the Yin Demons. The Day Walker Monarch manages the Day Walkers, under which there are one hundred and eight Day Walker Gods.
"Each Day Walker God oversees one hundred and eight Day Walker Commanders. The Day Walker Commanders are in charge of various Day Walker Generals, Day Walker Lieutenants, and Day Walker Guards."
Fang Chen's mind stirred slightly. "So, there are one hundred and eight Day Walker Gods? That means there must be tens of thousands of Day Walker Commanders..."
The vastness of the Underworld was beyond imagination.
After explaining the structure of the Day Walker lineage, Du Yunxu continued, "The Day Walkers primarily patrol the human realm during the day, recording the good and evil deeds done, which are then written into the ledger."
Fang Chen nodded slightly, waiting for Du Yunxu to continue.
To his surprise, Du Yunxu stopped speaking after that.
Fang Chen asked, "Is that all?"
"That's all. After recording the good and evil deeds, the Department of Judges handles the rest," Du Yunxu explained.
He paused for a moment before adding, "Would you like to visit the capital's Department of Judges? I can guide you there."
Fang Chen asked, "How far is the capital?"
Du Yunxu smiled. "Not far, just across the bridge."
Fang Chen pointed to the massive bridge in the distance. "Is it that one?"
Du Yunxu nodded gently. "Exactly."
Fang Chen asked, "Those bridges lead to different cities, right? Each city represents a region in the human realm?"
Du Yunxu replied respectfully, "Exactly."
Fang Chen pondered for a moment, then said, "You can return now. I'll visit the Department of Judges in later."
Du Yunxu clasped his fists and bowed. "Understood, my lord."
He took two steps back and was soon enveloped by a dark mist. He then appeared on the distant, towering bridge.
With Du Yunxu's departure, only Fang Chen and Wang Hu were left in the Yin Residence. Fang Chen's thoughts stirred, and the Yin Lord's armor disappeared back inside him.
Wang Hu kowtowed repeatedly, slamming his head on the ground. He was trembling uncontrollably, too afraid to make a sound.
"You just said that the title 'Day Walker' is enough to press on my chest like a mountain," said Fang Chen. "One that would suffocate me and make it hard to breathe?"
Wang Hu froze, shaking violently. He scrambled to crawl toward Fang Chen, repeatedly kowtowing and pleading for mercy.
"I know my mistake! Please, spare me, spare me!"
Each kowtow seemed to shake the very ground beneath them.
Outside the Yin Residence, Lin San stood, his expression uncertain.
One of his subordinates frowned and said, "Master, do you think Lord Wang couldn't hold his temper and acted out of frustration? This could break the rules of the Underworld. Will it cause trouble for Lord Wang?"
"There's no real trouble," Lin San replied calmly. "After all, both the City Lord and our Supervisor hold Lord Wang in high regard. The powers of the Day Walker lineage are far greater than you think."
Lin San gently shook his head and murmured to himself, "This old fellow, could it be that because he's received a lot of my Yin Lifespan, he feels guilty and wants to make a strong effort to seek justice for me this time?"
Lin San couldn't help but smile faintly. It seemed his offerings over the years were not in vain.
Wang Hu was not a bad person after all. He understood human relations and the ways of interacting.
After a brief moment, everyone saw the gate of the Yin residence open, and Wang Hu stepped out.
Lin San was slightly stunned.
Wait a minute... why is Wang Hu backing out instead of walking out?
He watched in surprise as Wang Hu lowered his head and kept bowing. He seemed to be talking with someone and retreating with great respect. They even saw him kneel and kowtow a few times before closing the door.
The surrounding Yin servants exchanged confused glances, and then Wang Hu stood up and walked toward them.
Lin San stepped forward. "Lord Wang, what... what was that about?"
Without a word, Wang Hu slapped Lin San across the face.
Lin San's expression shifted between anger and confusion. "Lord Wang, what happened? Did that Yin Walker make a higher offer than me?"
Wang Hu coldly stared at Lin San. "If you want to die, go ahead and die, but don't drag me down with you. As for what happened...what makes you think you have the right to know? Remember this—don't provoke this person again. As for Qing Sui, release him immediately.
"If even a single hair on his head is harmed, I will take your life in exchange. I know where your Lin family's ancestral home is in the human realm. Be careful, they might come down to join you. You don't have enough Yin lifespan to pay for that."
Wang Hu slapped Lin San once more before quickly leaving.
Lin San's subordinates looked at each other, unsure of what had just happened.
Lin San gazed deeply at the Yin residence, then muttered, "Let's leave here first. Something... isn't right."
