A tandem of colossal roars tore through the forest, and the three assassins stiffened. Their bodies were trembling in fear.
Far behind Rahu, three colossal beasts were running towards them, their eyes red, seemingly entranced.
A humongous dark green snake was slithering towards them, and a massive bear was dashing in their direction with claws so sharp that they split a huge tree in half just by a mere scratch by those claws.
And finally, this one was the most terrifying; it was an enormous wolf with dense purple fur, black lightning cackling around its body every second.
Yes. Three Soul Tempering level Demonic beasts! Such a line-up is enough to flatten several mid-tier cities.
’Y-YOU, BASTARD, WHAT DID YOU DO!?" Ashen roared at the wounded...Rahu?
Except...there was no Rahu at all!!!
When they were all petrified, he had slipped through during their momentary shock.
"You idiot! Focus on these first! We can capture that bastard later!" Fang roared and jumped high, dodging the razor-sharp claws by a hair’s breadth!

A wide mouth opened in front of Ashen, spewing deadly green poison! Darkness burst from his body to shield him, but some drops of poison still invaded his cloak of darkness.
"AHHHH!! SHIT SHIT IT’S CORRODING MY MERIDIANS!!" Ashen screamed in agony. Even with the same level of cultivation, they stood no chance against these terrifying beasts.
Shura was no better; he was wounded and battered in a matter of seconds as the terrifying lightning wreaked havoc inside his body.
The land shook, and the clouds in the sky dissipated, unable to bear the sheer aura of the battle.
"We have no choice but to kill them!! The moment we turn our backs, we are dead! Use your strongest attacks!" Fang growled. He waved his hands, and a terrifying black saber materialised in front of him.
"Phantom Shadow Arts—NIGHT BLADE!!"
Creepy shadows formed around the blade, coating the entire saber. His muscles bulged, and without wasting a second, he swung his blade in a terrifying arc.
A Black shadowy arc tore through. The bear roared and slashed its claws at the arc.
"KRRRREEE-CHHHH!"
BOOM!
A deadly explosion followed, engulfing everything within ten miles.
Still, none of them were harmed except Fang, who was panting heavily as the shockwave hit him square in the face.
Ashen was faring no better; his entire arm was dissolved in that poison. But he had managed to wound the enormous snake, evident by the hole that was gaping on its body.
Shura’s condition was the worst; half his body had been burned, and he looked like a charred potato.
But at the last moment, he managed to strike the wolf’s eyes with a sword that seemed to have been formed entirely of blood.

"Shit, this can’t go on any longer!! Find that bastard, it seems he is controlling the wild demonic beasts somehow," Shura shouted, dodging a claw coated with lightning. But it was too fast; it grazed his already charred back slightly.

Escape was no longer possible; it was a dead end for them.

A loud hiss was heard, turning at the source. Fang saw a horrifying sight: the colossal snake’s large tooth was embedded inside Ashen’s chest, tearing through his back.
His right hand was inside the snake’s body, in the last moment of sheer will-power, his hand shook. Instantly, the snake’s lower body burst into pieces, gravely wounding the snake or even crippling it completely as dark smoke was coming out of its small pores.
"F-Fang, it seems this is as f-far as I-I go, t-take...care of m-my...m-mother."
As he said that, the light in his eyes slowly dimmed before being snuffed out.
"NOO! SHIT!" Fang roared ferociously and directed all his anger at the damn boar, chopping its legs in with a furious roar.
Even being an assassin, Ashen was his longest partner and a teammate. The two of them had risen from rags to where they were today.
His sudden and humiliating death sparked fury in his already burning heart. First, a lowly ant deceives them, and now his teammate has just died.
