Infinite Ebullience Chapter 257

Fifteen hours had passed since they were teleported into the Coliseum. The high school students were extremely exhausted from the constant hunger and panic. They were so drained that they didn’t care about the grime on the stone slabs and just sat down against the wall, falling into a heavy sleep.

In the meantime, some of the boys had to pee. Li Xinlan was considerate and set up a portable tent for them to use as a makeshift toilet. The boys, on the other hand, simply relieved themselves against the Stone Walls.

"They can actually sleep soundly without even setting up a guard." Zhang Hao, filled with dissatisfaction, noticed most of the students were resting. He wanted to explode, "Why do I have to act as their protector?" Get full chapters from novel~fire~net

"Quiet, if Tang Zheng wakes up, you’ll be in trouble," warned Lin Weiguo, who was also on guard duty. Tang Zheng had originally suggested that he rest, but the Old Soldier had refused. He knew that in a battle, Tang Zheng would be the main force, so he made sure he saved as much energy as he could.

"These students haven’t turned on one another – it’s so disappointing," muttered Zhang Hao. He glanced at Tang Zheng, who was sleeping in the Tent, and lowered his voice. "We are desperate, why stick to morals? Can those fill our empty stomachs?"

"Wait, once the Demons launch another attack or after a few more hours of endurance, someone will definitely snap," Lin Weiguo also wanted to find some peace. Having a family and kids had softened his heart. "Wait for them to give us a reason to kill. For now, let’s close our eyes and pretend to rest."

The reality proved that Lin Weiguo had too much faith in them. As he and Zhang Hao feigned sleep, Han Zifeng and his group of misbehaving students took action. They began by deliberately knocking their guns against the ground to ensure no one was watching, then slowly approached the five students huddled at the edge.

Slap, slap. Two of the sleeping students felt a hand over their mouths, and immediately began to struggle, only to find a fist punched into their stomachs.

"Quiet," Han Zifeng pointed the muzzle of his gun at the five, "Whoever screams gets killed."

"What are you planning to do?" a boy with glasses stuttered, believing Han Zifeng intended to kill them.

"Don’t worry, sit down," Han Zifeng patted his shoulder, indicating he meant no harm. "It’s unpleasant to be ostracized, isn’t it? How about joining me?"

"Are you really not going to kill us?" the bespectacled boy looked at the students with their mouths covered, feeling scared.

"Of course not, I just wanted to make sure you wouldn’t scream," Han Zifeng nodded, sat down and asked, "So, what’s your answer?"

Silence, because Han Zifeng didn’t exactly have a good reputation.

"Hey, what’s most important right now is surviving. Now it’s a contest of strength. Surely you don’t want to be killed as a sacrifice?" Han Zifeng stopped the bespectacled boy who was about to speak. "Forget about chivalry and morality. Three days without food—what good does getting out of the Coliseum do? So while we still have strength, we ought to find a way to survive."

"What about the sacrifices?" a student swayed by Han Zifeng asked. "You’re not planning on killing our classmates, are you?"

Han Zifeng didn’t answer; he only shifted his gaze towards the Peddler and his group, which was answer enough.

"What if Tang Zheng tries to interfere?" the bespectacled boy asked another question. Realizing it wasn’t them doing the dirty work took some pressure off. Therefore, while they felt uneasy, they didn’t refuse and even entertained the idea that they had nothing to do with the upcoming slaughter.

"They probably can’t wait for us to pick three people to kill," Han Zifeng sneered. "They just don’t want to get their own hands dirty. I help them do the job. Who knows, we might even get some food in return."

Han Zifeng was quick to adapt. As long as he could survive, he didn’t mind flattering Tang Zheng or enduring a few punches. That was definitely better than dying here and remaining as rat food.

"I’m in," The bespectacled boy was tired of being alienated, gritted his teeth and nodded first. The others looked at each other, then agreed as well.

"Good. Just continue sleeping for now. When I make a move, you all attack as well," commanded Han Zifeng. He then ran to Xu Guanlin, whispered something to him for a while, and finally convinced him.

"Brother Han, why are you doing this thankless task?" a subordinate couldn’t figure out.

"Hmph, while there’s a risk, the benefits are also significant. At least I won’t just sit here waiting to die. If I get more people involved, who would dare to blame me?" Han Zifeng was incredibly bold. "If it weren’t for Tang Zheng and his people, I’d have long killed the likes of Xu Guanlin. What use is reputation in this place? Strength is the real deal."

"We brothers need to stick together. Only through unity can we bully others and let others die instead of us. Don’t be foolish," Han Zifeng flattered his seven companions with his words, but in his heart, he was calculating a different survival strategy.

"Listen to Brother Han," After the other seven made their stand, Han Zifeng lowered his voice, "Let’s get started. There are two guns among those three. Later, call over Liu Li and use a few others from the sidelines as meat shields. Even if they die, no one will object."

"Zifeng, it’s such a waste to kill that woman straight away. Can I have a bit of fun before killing her?" A student with earrings whispered, slightly embarrassed but also excited at the thought of the upcoming kill. "I’m still a virgin. I don’t want to die with regrets."
