Infinite Ebullience Chapter 348

Just before the teleportation gate was destroyed, two aboriginal cavalry riders charged in. They held their javelins in attack positions. However, due to their speed and the muddy ground, the raptors stumbled and fell, causing them to lose balance.

Tang Zheng disregarded the mud beneath his feet and aimed at one of the natives, pulling the trigger. The bullet missed. It wasn’t his fault, the ground beneath him was unstable, the heavy rain was hampering the AK74, the rain beating against the gun altered the muzzle angle, the trigger was still wet, and his fingers slippery. Without the usual sensation of shooting, and the rain obstructing his vision, against the wind and the high-speed movement of the target, it was tough. Moreover, Tang had to be careful not to accidentally hurt any pedestrians who were falling around.

"Damn it." Even Tang Zheng, with his character, cursed out loud. This weather was too terrible. His two bullets hit the native’s shoulder, but it did not affect their movements, and the native’s spear remained thrust towards Tang.

However, it’s really unfortunate for Tang Zheng. The counterattack came too quickly, and he was somehow targeted first by the opposition.

Dada, David and Robert opened fire. However, David missed, and in order to be safe, Robert aimed right for the chest of one of the aborigines. However, he underestimated the native’s resilience and withstood the painful wound long enough to throw his spear right before dying.

Swoosh, the spear whistled past Chris’s lower abdomen, embedding itself into the ground, followed by a scream.

Tang Zheng switched to single shots, compensating for the lack of precision from massed fire, but it provided more counterattack opportunities for the opposition. If he had targeted the newbie, surely there would have been war results, but he unfortunately aimed at Tang Zheng instead, who successfully dodged all attempts at attack.

Thump, the native’s corpse tumbled into the weeds, fresh blood flowed from the bullet holes in his body, which promptly stained the ground. However, the blood was soon washed away by the rainwater. ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ n̷o̷v̷e̷l̷f̷i̷r̷e̷.net

Catching his breath, Tang Zheng walked over to the two bodies and shot each one twice more, only putting down his guard after blowing their heads apart. Lu Fan was already cloaked in a raincoat, and was making his way towards him through layers of shallow waters to give him another one.

"I have one." Tang Zheng refused the man, pulling a green raincoat that reached down to his calves over himself. "Give it to Demi."

"Can’t even set up a tent in this infernal weather." Danny cursed vehemently. He pulled out a tent, but it was impossible to erect it, so he crawled underneath it instead.

Unable to do much else, the newbies took their surroundings for what it was. At this moment, they were all huddling like ostriches, burying their heads between their knees. Having learnt from their mistake, Miranda took cover in Tang Zheng’s raincoat, covering as much as she could.

"Here’s an umbrella for you." Tang Zheng tossed the umbrella to Nicole. Julia and others were already equipped with raincoats, so there was no need to worry.

The remaining newbies were miserable, helplessly getting drenched in the rain. Chris was in the worst situation, having been wounded, with nobody even helping her, she could, but struggle to hold her wound alone.

Under the assault of the fierce natural rainstorm, everybody felt as though they were a boat struggling without an anchor. The only solace was the accomplishment of demolishing the teleportation gate.

"Stay low, beware of getting struck by lightning!" Tang Zheng yelled, looking up at the sky, calculating the distance of the thundercloud based on the sounds of the thunder. "Don’t worry, we’re not in the center of the storm."

"Thankfully, the wind isn’t too strong, otherwise it would be even unluckier." Lu Fan came near Tang Zheng, pulled a face at him, then started gnawing on a chocolate, quietly waiting for the storm to pass by.

Tang Zheng closed his eyes to catch his breath and felt a pair of hands grabbing him. He looked towards Miranda in surprise, her face was calm, but her grip was strong.

Tang Zheng didn’t hesitate to hold her hand back, because they were crouching on the ground.

It seemed that the route on the map was extraordinarily long. It was fortunate that they had raptor mounts to cover the distance, so they spent the entire day on the move. During their journey, they encountered various carnivorous dinosaurs but managed to kill them all, eliminating any threats as long as the dinosaurs didn’t form a group.

The next morning, Tang Zheng and others reached the end of the road near a massive waterfall. Seeing the water rush down from dozens of meters high, splashing numerous droplets, a rainbow formed under the brilliant sunlight, the sight was mesmerizing.

"Stop gawking. Let’s go. There must be a city on the other side of the teleportation gate!" Danny was fed up with their wilderness-style living, itching to check into a hotel and rest.

Mounting their raptors, they approached the teleportation gate. Danny was the first to make contact, but he wasn’t teleported.

"What’s happening?" Derek asked in confusion as Tang Zheng, Lu Fan and Robert had turned their mounts around and were rapidly retreating. The newbies, too, followed suit, and infected by their caution, they quickly fled.

A flare of blue light, and then four huge ’Armoured Tyrannosaurs’ appeared in front of the teleportation gate. With a deafening roar from their throats, with eyes bigger than fists, and a ferocious glare, they started chasing the survivors.

"Run." Tang Zheng and Robert yelled in unison. At a time , they couldn’t strike back, they needed to scatter and separate the Tyrannosaurs for single attacks.

The newbies were too scared to move on their own and all huddled close to the Conquerors, terrified by the rumbling sound of feet of Tyrannosaurs, their faces turned pale.

"Spread out." Tang looked at the bundle of newbies huddled together, the pack of Tyrannosaurs didn’t spread out. Seemed annoyed, he made eye contact with the Conquerors to make them scatter a bit, but nobody complied. David and the others didn’t dare do any such ’foolish’ thing.
