Infinite Evolution: My Idle Evolution System Chapter 104

An unsuspecting Greater Demon had its hideous, toothy face drilled into. The head exploded, then the upper body, and without slowing down, Cassius blew through its entire hill-sized body. Blood flew into the air for thousands of meters, with the other Greater Demons only registering what happened after the earth caved in.

Rather than a small cracked ground, the result of Cassius colliding with the cityscape directly below the lead Greater Demon's bloody corpse was an upward implosion so large that a mountain's height might pale in comparison. The might of weight, momentum, and gravity.

This was the true power of Science!

When the dust clouds finished billowing, an enormous protrusion of rubble was seen sticking up out of the ground. It extended to the clouds above, and on its branching spikes were the wailing figures of thousands of Lesser and Intermediate Demons. There was even another, almost-as-large Greater Demon skewered off to the side of the protrusion.

It wasn't dead yet, just like many of the skewered Intermediate Demons, but soon… it would be.

Seeing that the other three Greater Demons evaded just in the nick of time put a frown on Cassius's face. However, with a swift tap of his Hermes Boots, he sprang up like a broken coil.

The ground once again cracked beneath him but did so not nearly at the same level as just a second ago.

With one simple slash, Lilith wrapped around the roaring, dinosaur-looking Greater Demon that was trapped on the earthly protrusion. A massive ugly head was cut clean off.

Less than a millisecond later, the rest of the Greater Demon's corpse quit moving; it was confirmed dead. Yet, it was also in that same period of time that Cassius rebounded off the torso of the corpse, causing it to explode like a busted-open pinata.

Lilith was raised, then thrust forward.

A super-thin blade beam whizzed through the air, shooting straight for a bull-like Greater Demon that was still in the process of temporarily retreating.

A small atomic explosion ended the life of that bull Greater Demon, with the ensuing damage even taking off a couple of legs of the spider-like Greater Demon that was near it when Lilith struck forth. It let out a shrill shriek while hurriedly fleeing from that dangerous blast radius.

However, with another effortless forward thrust, another thin sword beam was shot out. It pierced through the spider Greater Demon's outer shell, through its gooey brain matter, and then out the other side. The inside of the spider's brain melted into mush, killing it on the spot, whereas the full power of the sword beam hit its mark on the large grayish-red body of a rhinoceros-like Greater Demon.

Another booming explosion reverberated through the land, sending large amounts of rolling radioactive winds throughout the area. And just like that, four of the five Greater Demons had died, leaving only the fifth Greater Demon, which was a tall golem/titan type.

The Demon tried to flee, but with fear overwhelming its misty irises, it felt a ridiculously hot beam of sword light pierce through the back of its skull and tunnel through its head before exploding midway. Yet, surprisingly, even though the upper half of its massive body was eviscerated, its lower half still remained.

To Cassius, this was intriguing.

But it wasn't intriguing enough to warrant any more interest. The five Greater Demons were dispatched without much of a problem, and now it was time to see how his Evomons were performing.

The Lesser and Intermediate Demons were vicious and savage, with many of them ganging up on single Evomons. Because of this, several of them had experienced Shadow Death. Yet none of it was enough to dent their Master's massive Mana Pool.

"Though, overall, it looks like my troops have the upper hand," Cassius commented.

Although from a third-person perspective, it seemed like the Evomons were at a disadvantage due to the vast disparity in numbers, with Shadow Death, things changed. The tide of the battle began to lean in the Evomons' favor because of that one Skill.

The battle concluded with the separated Nyxvoldar cleaving off the upper halves of nearly a dozen Lesser Demons. And with that, the opposing force was no more.

Teleporting across the ruined landscape, Cassius let all of the Demon Bloodline Essence get absorbed into his body. He also checked out the Greater Demons' corpses, planning to quickly throw his Evomon balls out to capture them.

Unfortunately, though, the corpses disintegrated and fused with him before that could happen.

"A pity," Cassius sighed. "It would've been nice to have five Pinnacle B-Rank Evomons included in my forces, but I guess some things just aren't meant to be."

Individually, each one of the Greater Demons was stronger than a normal Yellow-Rank Gate Boss Monster. It was because of this that he felt it to be a great shame to miss out on potential shadow soldiers.

"Well, there is no use crying over spilled milk."

With that comment, Cassius vanished from his position, taking with him his entire Evomon army. Their destination was wherever the wind took them.

[Ordinary Phoenix Bloodline: 0.09%]

Seconds turned into minutes, and minutes turned into dozens of minutes.

Time flew by like a cloud of mist and rain—momentary and fleeting. It was already past the halfway mark that Cassius promised his dragon he would be back by. And though he grew progressively more worried about what would happen if he didn't make it back in time, his gains worked well as a tonic to distract him.

During this brief period of time, Cassius slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Demons, with the number likely reaching past a million. From these kills, he acquired not one, not two, but a total of three levels!

In retrospect, that didn't sound like very much for how much he had to kill. However, as he had long since figured out: the higher your level, the harder it was to level up.

He quickly came to realize just how true that principle was after passing Level 70.
