Cassius gave an affirmative nod before turning around at the same moment his father got beamed up in a pillar of golden light.
Those who had been too stunned or afraid of Adam Steele's presence now rushed up to Cassius. Though, more than them, all his interest was on Selena and Cremel, both of whom were the only surviving Dissonants among the millions who had invaded.
"Selena," said Cassius. "That's your name, isn't it?"
Selena furiously nodded, sweating like a pig. "Th…That's me, good sir!"
"Ho?" Cassius smirked. "How would you like to do something for me, Miss Selena? I promise you that it'll be worth your time."
"Don't try to trick her, human mortal—"
Before Cremel could finish his sentence, a golden beam of light descended from the heavens, smiting him!
Cremel was reduced to cinders, with his lifeforce barely hanging on.
"Hmm?" Cassius looked up but saw no signs of his father. "Must've just been something he left behind. Well, no matter, I do appreciate the gift."
Finishing the job, Cassius killed Cremel. System notifications sounded right after, with the boons too damn delicious:

Absorbing the Dissonant's remains, Cassius experienced a large boost in power. He savored it for a moment before shifting his icy gaze to the nervously shaking female Dissonant.
"What is it, dear Selena?" he asked, his grin curving crookedly. "You've been watching my every move for some time, but now that you're back to full power, you begin to get cold feet? Isn't that quite funny…?"
"P-Please, Sir Cassius!" Selena bowed, piously hitting her head against a hard sheet of space. "Won't you spare this lowly one!? I'll answer anything you ask me! D-Do anything you ask of me!!"
Cassius put on a show of deliberation. Then he smiled and replied, "I suppose I can accept those conditions. But you'll have to tell me everything you know—everything."
"Good," said Cassius, his right hand firmly gripping Selena's forehead. "I'll learn everything you know."
Urgency flashed through Selena's irises, but there was nothing she could do to stop what had already been put in motion. Cassius sieved through her memories, extracting everything without restraint. This caused her to spasm and relapse, with froth pouring out of her mouth.
However, Cassius didn't stop for even a second.
After finishing the complete absorption process, he let go of her head. She collapsed, her brain fried. Though, while plummeting to the expanse of nothingness below, Cassius felt pity for her and finished her off with a single sword stroke from Lilith.
"Sorry, but I spare no enemies—even the beautiful ones," Cassius coldly stated, his eyes just as cold.
