Chapter 101: Human, Spirit, I Treat Everyone All the Same!
After Kirill and Wang came Alex and Annalise, Sara’s younger sister and disciple.
In no more than 15 minutes, Alex, who was by far more experienced, took care of the lady and, with all due respect, defeated her.
Then, one of the twin elders’ disciples fought against one of the alchemists’ disciples, and after a long battle that lasted for a bit over 30 minutes, she defeated him, and the battle moved on.
But at this time, the outer sect, or Ken’s batch to be specific, had many challengers come and go, and now, it was our protagonist’s turn to go up, and he was fighting against Saad, one of the young men from the top 10.
Ken who was already aware of his turn coming up, brought out his cloud and flew down very slowly to the arena, and then landed there at the same time Saad stepped in.
On the other hand, for the rest of the audience, hearing that it was Ken’s turn to fight, everybody locked on him, forgetting all the fights that were going on.
From human to spirit, everybody was focused on how this man was going to play with his peer, and Saad, feeling all the attention on them, wasn’t the happiest.
"How come you don’t feel uncomfortable in this scenario?" Saad looked around and asked Ken, who was now in front of him.
"Have you paid attention to the older generations’ matches?" Ken asked another question, not replying.
"Uh, yeah, I did." Saad replied, not knowing where Ken was going with this question.
"Then you should take it from me and them as a lesson and not speak when you’re against an opponent." Ken spoke in a serious tone Saad wasn’t used to, and when he thought back to where he was, he nodded and got serious.
It was then that something happened that caught Ken’s attention: the elder who was supposed to supervise was approached by his elder master, and they switched places, most definitely for this match specifically.
"Get ready to start." The elder master turned his attention towards them once the other elder floated back to the table on the sky and spoke.
Ken and Saad faced each other, and Saad took a basic, efficient stance while Ken was standing straight, not taking any.
Being so close to perfecting the Useful Records, taking a stance was optional for him.
His next move was bound to be perfect for any situation, though he wasn’t in any need to be on the defensive.
"Let the match start!" The Elder Master announced, and the two stood in their places for a second, another, and then a third before Saad got too tensed up.
’Is he going to attack? Is he not going to? Looking at him, I don’t think he will...’ Thoughts passed through his mind, and he tried his best to keep his awareness at an all-time high to not get taken by surprise.
’If he’s not going to attack, then I will.’ The only choice he had because if he didn’t, he would be overcome by tension alone and be defeated without Ken having to do anything.
*Fwsh* *Thud* *Thud* *Thud*
Saad, in a second after making up his mind, launched himself towards Ken at full speed... however, his physique was no different from that of a regular human.
His speed was normal, and his awareness, senses, strength, and everything else were the same as those of a villager, if not weaker.
The only advantage he had was his slight mastery over the efficiency records that gave him a high edge over any mortal.
But, against Ken, he could just as well surrender.
And that is why Ken didn’t attack.
He didn’t have to; thus, the next best thing was to instruct him the same way he did to the spirits.
In front of the entire sect, from its new batch to its inner sect elders, Ken stood in his place, and once a straight punch from Saad approached his face, he caught it.
Then, using his overwhelming strength, he moved the fist aside and looked straight into Saad’s eyes.
And this was enough to tell the young man that... he wasn’t a match against this monster.
"Remember what you’ve learned the past few days." Ken addressed him.
’What I learned?’ Saad, not knowing if Ken was joking around or not in this situation, thought back to the many new things he had learned from Ken himself, both elders, and then that very pretty official disciple sister.
Sure-Kill strategies, keeping focus, using senses, taking advantage, and creating chances—all of that blah blah that has been filtered out by Annalise and then summarized—were brought up in his mind all at once.
But the spectators, seeing how easily Ken handled Saad, couldn’t help but smack their heads.
"Having Ken fight against his batch is useless; he should have been put within Lu’s batch or mine." Adam, in his control room, was watching Ken’s fight and couldn’t help but comment to his wife.
On the other hand, the elder master who was overseeing the fight was also thinking something similar.
He had used this chance to get very close to Ken and observe how he used his energy and his mastery over his technique very closely; however, against such weak opponents his actions were wasted.
But not for long; during the next few phases, what he wanted to learn would be available for sight.
And unfortunately for all, the match wasn’t as appealing as they wished for it to be, but it was obvious.
Ken was the man who took care of a warrior devil when he was still a first-stage qi refining realm cultivator, and something only a minority knew was the fact that he defeated it while it was at its peak strength.
Thus, those who were still interested, especially his and Lu’s batch, watched as he instructed Saad for a good five minutes before ending the fight swiftly and going back up to his seat alongside his elder master.
Such was the way Ken did his things.
And now, the second phase was very quickly approaching.
