Insect Tamer's Ascension Chapter 153

"Theo tried looking at the spot Rhys was pointing at, but aside from a lot of trees, leaves, and plants, he saw nothing.

"Are you sure you are pointing at the right location, Sir Knight?" Theo asked while scratching his head.

Rhys looked at him for a moment with slightly judging eyes and made the hand sign of it being there.

Theo kept looking at the location with focused eyes until he finally saw some blurry things far away, coming to this location at a slow speed.

When he thought about it, Theo realized that it might not be a slow speed but because he was so far away from them, it just looked like it.

"What is our plan now? Do we keep waiting here?" Theo asked.

His gaze was at the boar, which was sniffing the ground all over, looking for the intruder that had hurt it just now.

_______________

"Are you sure this is the right place? You have been making us walk since forever~" A girl no older than 20 asked with a cute groan.

All the other members looked at her once before they averted their gaze again. There was tension in the group.

"You all are no fun…" The girl shrugged it off and kept on walking. She looked at one of them in the back and smiled, but the guy averted his gaze right away.

Out of the four people in this group, one of them was dragging a cage with a thick chain attached to it. The cage was very big, and even when it got stuck in between some big roots or rocks, the man just tugged with little strength, and it got out destroying the terrain around.

He was the biggest of them all, with a height of seven feet. But it was not the height but the broadness of his body that was more concerning.

"5 minutes and we will be there. Prepare to engage; the client has been waiting a long time," the man in the front said again, his pace increasing by the second.

_______________

"We will make sure who the target is. This is very necessary."

"If not me, do you think the target is you or Elias?" Theo asked with a frown.

"No," Rhys spoke, with his eyes stuck on the group, "This could be great for you, like a stealth mission. Just keep looking at the situation and give me insights," Rhys spoke after glancing once at Theo, who nodded.

Theo kept his eyes on the group that came closer and closer. Their outlines were becoming clearer, and Theo could tell how many people were there now.

When the group finally came close enough, the leader stopped, making others halt too.

"What happened?" the girl asked while jumping and looking up in the clearing.

"The target… has already been engaged…" the leader said with gritted teeth. There was anger in his eyes.

"He won't be happy about these injuries… Mireya, track whatever was here. The wounds on it are fresh," the leader said.

"Alrightyy~" she said cheerfully and moved her hand forward. Her long sleeves, that covered till the wrist, moved, and soon, a snake head bobbed out of it.

"Go find something for me, cutie," Mireya said with a giggle and caressed the snake, who just kept coming out and down until it was fully on the ground.

The snake looked very normal aside from that heavily light green colour that seemed to camouflage right away. There was sharpness in the snake's eyes that seemed to tell what kind of predator it was.

The snake went inside the clearing, and even then, the boar didn't realize that something entered its territory again.

"Hm~ Hm~ Hm~ Hm?" Mireya's eyes perked in excitement. There was a glow in them as if she was using an ability of her own.

When Rhys saw that glow from above the tree, he became even more serious. These guys were serious.

"What did you observe, young master?" Rhys asked Theo on his side.

Theo didn't even wait and spoke with confidence, "They are after the boar, not me… But judging by their behaviour, they are trying to find who hurt the beast?" Theo said and asked at the end.

Rhys smiled lightly and nodded, "We don't want to get caught, so let's go while hiding, alright?" he said, and Theo nodded in understanding.

Elias just came up to that branch with the ape just a moment ago, and when the ape was there, its demeanour changed to that of playful. It grabbed onto the next top branch from the one he was on with its large height span.

"Come to the top of the tree with your beast, Attendant. We are leaving," Rhys spoke and grabbed Theo again and jumped lightly to grab the next branch.

Theo saw the branch they were at below now and observed that even though they jumped high, there was no impact on the branch they jumped from. It was intact.

Rhys kept climbing up while the girl on the ground kept humming with her eyes glowing. Her eyes kept moving to the left with each passing second until they were stuck on a tree's trunk.

From then on, her eyes kept going up and up until all the leaves and branches from other trees hid the upper part of it.

"Hehehehe~" the girl giggled, making the others look at her.

"They are still up there, the bad people," the girl said and looked at the leader with an uncontrolled expression.

That was when everyone averted their gaze. She was bad news.

"Got it," the leader closed his eyes too, and the sound of a falcon came from the sky.

They saw the glimpse of the bird moving all around above the forest, looking around with its sharp eyes.

SQUEAKKK

Finally, all that soon they were making grabbed the attention of the injured and frustrated boar who went running toward the sound not caring what it was.

The man handling the cage grinned for the first time, it was time.

When Rhys and Theo were finally at the top of the forest, Theo saw the sky that the trees always hid with awe.

"This… This is beautiful."

"No time to waste, close your mouth," Rhys spoke and jumped once again, yet this time, it was with strength. The tree jerked behind them, and the ape made a quick sound of frustration before increasing its speed.

Theo closed his eyes and mouth fully, and when he opened them, he froze. They were in the sky, the wind that blew past all around his body made Theo shiver, it was cold.

But the scenery above the forest was so mesmerizing, Theo couldn't help but looked at it with awe.

(Scenery that he saw in this comment)
