Chapter 790: Chapter 786: Going to Mingde County
The old man ultimately couldn’t sleep for long, Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun had been watching over Elder Li for less than half an hour before he woke up.
First, the old man smacked his lips thirstily, then opened his eyes, and only after that did he notice Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun next to him. When he saw Li Zhaojun and Ye Fan, Elder Li did not immediately react as if he thought he was dreaming.
“Grandfather,” Ye Fan stood up, walked closer to the bed, and called.
“Ye Fan?” Elder Li called out, then turned his gaze to Li Zhaojun’s face and said, “Jun’er?”
Ye Fan revealed a smile and said, “Grandfather, it’s us. Let me help you sit up.”
As he spoke, he began to help Elder Li sit up and propped him up with pillows supporting his lower back.
At this point, Li Zhaojun finally made a move. She stood up and called out, “Grandfather.”
“Ah, you’ve come,” Elder Li finally confirmed that he wasn’t just confused from sleep, “Help me to the living room.”
“Alright.” Ye Fan responded and turned to call Li Zhaojun, who had been standing all this time. Li Zhaojun reacted and, together with Ye Fan, helped Elder Li to the living room and carefully seated him in a reclined armchair.
Liu Tiezhu came out from the kitchen with a cup of warm water to help Elder Li drink it down.
After drinking half a cup of warm water, Elder Li was noticeably more spirited.
“Elder Chief, Zhao Jun and Ye Fan have been sitting by your bedside for nearly half an hour,” he casually said.
Elder Li nodded in acknowledgment.
After Liu Tiezhu stepped away, Ye Fan asked concernedly about Elder Li’s health. He then apologized, “Grandfather, I’m really sorry we haven’t managed to visit you recently. From now on, we’ll make sure to visit you often.”
“Hehe, you young people have your careers to attend to, so go ahead with your business. Don’t worry about this old man,” Elder Li said.
Ye Fan said, “How could that be? No matter how busy work is, we should still make time to accompany you, Elder.”
He had already decided that considering Li Zhaojun and Elder Li’s situation, he would drive back to Hua Hai city once a week to take Li Zhaojun to visit Elder Li.
“Isn’t that right, Zhao Jun?” Ye Fan turned to Li Zhaojun, who had been silent all this time, and asked.
Li Zhaojun immediately said, “Yes.”
Elder Li couldn’t help but smile.
He lived here, and although he had Liu Tiezhu for company, as well as other retired senior officials, he inevitably felt lonely and hoped for visitors.
Even though they had come to visit Elder Li at noon, Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun stayed with him until after nine in the evening before leaving.
Driving back to the Imperial Forest Bay Villas, it was natural for Ye Fan to spend the night at the villa.
However, that evening Ye Fan lay in Li Zhaojun’s bed to sleep, while Li Zhaojun was practicing in her training room. It wasn’t until past four in the morning that Li Zhaojun returned to the bedroom to sleep for just over two hours, then got up, had breakfast, and went to work at the Emali Group.
Li Zhaojun’s life and work schedule had become such that her work could potentially be processed extremely quickly, squeezing out as much time as possible for practice.

Ye Fan woke up at nearly eight o’clock, had breakfast, and also drove away from the villa to work in Mingde County.

Around one o’clock in the afternoon, Ye Fan and Wei Ziling arrived at Mingde County.
Upon arriving at Mingde County, Ye Fan first made a phone call to Zhao Lina.
During the time Ye Fan had spent killing time in Hua Hai city, he had called Zhao Lina. So when Zhao Lina received the call and learned that Ye Fan was finally coming back to work, she was not excited.
“Are you officially starting work tomorrow?” Zhao Lina asked calmly.
Ye Fan had left Mingde County for several months, and her state of mind had calmed down. Thus, when she spoke to Ye Fan, her tone was no longer deliberately cold.
“Yes,” Ye Fan replied.
Zhao Lina said, “Then you should come and stay at the unit’s dormitory tonight.”

Driving to Sunshine Residential Area and entering the rented house, the air inside was stale.
After Ye Fan had suddenly left on a mission, Wei Ziling left for Hua Hai city two or three days later, and the apartment had been uninhabited for several months. With doors and windows tightly closed, the air inside was inevitably stuffy. Fortunately, Wei Ziling had tidied up the place very cleanly before leaving, and had covered the furniture and bed with dust covers, so there was no dust accumulation.
Although Wei Ziling insisted that Ye Fan sit down and not lift a finger, Ye Fan still helped her clean the house. In the end, they went out to eat together, then shopped for daily necessities together.
They were busy until around six o’clock in the evening when the house finally started to feel like a home again.

At nine o’clock in the evening, Ye Fan packed two sets of clothes and drove to the police station.
After driving into the precinct, Ye Fan didn’t hurry into the unit’s dormitory but strolled around the police station instead.
Having been away for several months and now returning, Ye Fan felt quite emotional.
Inside the precinct, looking at these familiar scenes, he suddenly realized that he actually had some affection for the police station. Although he didn’t want to be a civil servant, after working for a few months, he did not truly hate it and had developed some fondness for it.
He walked alone on the playground, where there were lights but they weren’t very bright. The night was cool, the breeze was blowing, and the air was much fresher than in Hua Hai city, prompting endless thoughts.
He suddenly thought that he might only be able to go into politics in the future.
