Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School? Chapter 22

As I kept messing with Bai Yu’s hair, it didn’t take long to get the hang of it.

After a few clumsy attempts, tying it up turned out to be pretty simple—especially since we were sticking to the basics.

We talked while I practiced, mostly about girl stuff—everyday tips and tricks. But at Witch School, guys were practically nonexistent—or at least, no one still looked like one—so Bai Yu’s advice stayed pretty surface-level.

Then, out of nowhere, a thought hit me. Wait a sec…

“Hey, Sister Bai… uh, am I gonna have to deal with, like… a period someday?”

I blurted it out without thinking, switching gears fast.

If there was one major downside to being a girl, it had to be that.

Bleeding every month? Awful. Mood swings and weird food rules? No thanks. It sounded like a monthly jail sentence. Worse, I had no clue how pads even worked. Was I just supposed to wait for the blood and wing it? The thought made me squirm.

“What, already stressing about it?” Bai Yu smirked, clearly enjoying my panic. “Weren’t you the one hyped about being a girl?”

“Well… yeah, I’d deal with it if it happened,” I muttered. “It’s just kinda freaking me out right now…”

“You’re sweating the big stuff, huh?” She let out a light sigh. “But honestly? You’re worrying over nothing.”

“Huh? How come?” I tilted my head.

“Ever since that mana core got plugged into you, you didn’t just turn into some ordinary girl—you became a witch.”

“…And that means?” I frowned, still not following.

“Didn’t you look at your phone’s profile? The gender part doesn’t just say ‘female’—it’s listed as ‘witch.’ You went through witchification, not some cute little girl transformation. There’s a difference. You need to get that clear.”

“Uh… is there really a difference?” I scratched my head. “Isn’t it all just becoming a girl?”

“Witches might look human—pretty much the picture-perfect woman—but they’re not the same deep down. Witches don’t deal with periods, you know.”

“Oh! Wait, seriously? That’s amazing!” I let out a big sigh, totally relieved. Who knew being a witch had perks like that?

“Don’t get too pumped yet,” Bai Yu jumped in. “You’re still early on—just getting started with the mana core. Right now, you’re not really any race. You’re in this odd middle ground called a ‘trainee.’”

“Uh… so what? Does that mean I’ll still get a period?” My face dropped fast.

“That’s not what I meant,” she said, shaking her head. “You’re not human anymore, but you’re not a full witch either. You’re mid-witchification—a halfway point. Technically, gender-wise, you’ve got no tie to being a human girl. Your body’s just shaped like one, that’s it.”

She stopped after that long rundown, realizing she hadn’t answered me straight. “So, no, you won’t have a period.”

“Oh! I didn’t catch all that, but I heard the end!” I nodded hard, grinning. No period? That’s all I needed!

“You…” Bai Yu sighed, a bit annoyed at where my focus landed, but she let it go.

“Yuehan, do you actually get what I said?” she asked, giving me a look.

“What it means? Doesn’t it just mean no period for me?” I said, all wide-eyed. That’s all that mattered right now—rest could wait.

“You’re missing the bigger picture,” she said, pinching her nose. “Someone going through witchification isn’t human anymore. Race-wise, you don’t fit anywhere neat, so we just call it ‘trainee’ for now. Yuehan, you know what reproductive isolation is, right?”

“Reproductive isolation? Oh, I know that one… wait, why are we even talking about this? Sister Bai, are you saying witches can’t get pregnant?” My hands froze mid-motion as it clicked.

“You’re half right. Trainees can’t get pregnant.”

“But… what’s that got to do with me? Sister Bai, were you seriously expecting me to get pregnant or something?” After a beat of confusion, I chilled out. Pregnancy? No way I’d ever go there.

What was I even stressing about?

“Yeah, I guess I was overthinking it,” Bai Yu said, rubbing her forehead. “But just so you know, once you hit transcendence as a full witch, you can get pregnant like normal. Keep that in mind.”

“Got it, got it.” I brushed it off with a casual tone.

Forget pregnancy—I wasn’t even planning to hook up with anyone. I was still set on holding onto my first time.

What’s this mindset anyway? Some weird twist on a virginity complex?

Either way, since that door was still unopened, I kinda wanted to keep it that way.

A flirty mastermind on the outside, but a pure, innocent girl on the inside—sounded very interesting.

I was all about that playful banter, though.

Only downside? I’ve already had a girlfriend before. It stayed super basic, though, and we’ve been broken up for a while now.

Back then, I couldn’t have pictured where I’d end up now. Nᴇw ɴovel chaptᴇrs are published on NovᴇlFɪre.nᴇt

I used to think it was a shame—living a whole new life without tasting sweet romance.

But after trying it? Sweet, my foot.

It was a hassle—time-consuming, exhausting, and the guy’s expected to take the lead. No wonder we split. It wasn’t just the huge gap between us.

Still, after the breakup, I felt a tiny pang of something. Just a little, maybe—barely a blip.

Time flew by. No surprise—my new roommates didn’t show up today. Still, I picked up a ton of useful stuff.

Bai Yu only covered the basics, but even that was a game-changer. With this much under my belt, things were bound to get easier from here.

Outside, the sky had turned dark, streetlights casting a soft glow. The night air carried a different energy—livelier, more restless.

For most people my age, nightfall meant the fun was just getting started. Whether it was going out, hanging with friends, or diving into hobbies, it didn’t really matter.

Me, though? I was already drained.

Today had been a whirlwind—too much to take in at once. My life wasn’t about to change; it already had. Completely flipped upside down.

“Huh? Bai Yu, you’re staying over tonight?” I asked, blinking at her.

“Yup. Didn’t I say I’d teach you a bunch of stuff? How to shower, wash your hair, and take care of that shiny black mane of yours~” She grinned.

“Oh… yeah, guess you did, huh~”

Translator's note: I don't know if you have "period rules" there in your place, guys, but here in China, during a period, you are not supposed to:

They say it'll harm the reproductive system if you do those.
