At first glance, they saw the enormous semi-circular crater above the base.
Coupled with the Root ninja corpses they found along the way, it was clear that Root had suffered an unprecedented attack.
"It's worse than I thought."
Raising his headband, Kakashi, who was unfamiliar with the Reverse Four Symbols Seal, focused on the completely destroyed entrance of the Root base.
Hearing no sounds of fighting from within and seeing no Root ninja coming out to greet them, Kakashi had the worst suspicion.
He solemnly ordered, "Maintain a B-rank battle formation. Stay vigilant at all times when entering the Root base, and no one is to leave the group without permission."

any trace of Elder Danzo.
"Could it have something to do with that crater on the surface?" someone cautiously
suggested.
Kakashi's face darkened.
If that were the case, it would be a disaster.
The complete annihilation of Root and the possible death of Elder Danzo quickly spread back
to Konoha.
It caused an uproar, and the entire village was immediately on high alert.
As many puzzled villagers watched, a large number of Konoha ninjas moved swiftly across the
rooftops.
The alert level of Konoha Village was raised to the highest.
With the Fifth Hokage away at the Five Kage Summit, the remaining two Konoha advisors quickly stepped up to handle the situation.
"I will go to the Root base myself. I need to see if Elder Danzo is truly dead." With a serious and slightly sad expression, Homura said to his last remaining old friend, "I leave the village in your hands. Also, inform Tsunade, but don't make her rush back.
