The man was dressed in a casual coat, with a pair of leather gloves and a cowboy hat beside him, enjoying a plate of steak with pasta. He was sitting at the same table with members of “Investigative Team Two,” nine people in all.
“Jack, would you like to play a game with me?” Hamilton asked, chewing his food and offering a faint smile.
Chen Lun was puzzled.
Together with his teammates, he looked toward Hamilton and the others, not understanding what this guy meant.
“We are alike, as new members of the Imperial Judiciary, yet leading teams on our very first significant mission… I’m curious about you, Jack, both the rumors of your past and the person you are now.”
Hamilton put down his cutlery and pointed at Chen Lun and himself.
“Since we’re heading to the Spirit World for an investigation, why don’t we see which team can achieve results first?”
He pulled out an Imperial Bank certificate.
“This is a thousand Gold Pounds, as a wager for the game, how about it? Whichever team wins can share it amongst their members as an extra celebration reward.”
The teammates from both sides immediately showed interest upon hearing this.
These Gold Pounds weren’t much for them, just a nice little incentive. Still, the competition sounded quite interesting and could stimulate their competitive spirit.
Unexpectedly, Chen Lun shook his head lightly.
“Sorry, I’m not interested in gambling.”
The teammates from Group Two around Hamilton started booing, laughing, and thinking that this Mr. Jack was all talk and too afraid to accept such a challenge.
“Jack, why not accept Hamilton’s challenge? Are you scared?”
At that moment, a man’s voice came.
Everyone looked, and saw Madison, Rocky, and Meris slowly walking over, then rudely sitting down at the table of Group One.

Madison chuckled but said nothing, his disdain more apparent.
Meanwhile, Hamilton at the neighboring table shook his head slightly in disappointment, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and signaled his teammates to stand up and leave, ready to enter the Spirit World and begin their operation.
“We’re full, Captain,” Lane said, observing his captain’s expression and speaking tactfully.
Chen Lun nodded, stood up, and headed toward the restaurant exit on his own.
“Meet on the first floor.”
Lane and the other teammates quickly got up and followed out, but the last to leave, Madison’s trio, exchanged looks and snickered, calling him a coward.
