Chen Lun jolted up from the bed.
His serious gaze swiftly swept across the surroundings; he found himself in a strange room, the rich scent of flowers distinctly filling his nostrils.
Outside the window was pitch darkness, the dim light of the Purple Moon streamed through the windowsill, casting a somewhat tranquil atmosphere. Confusion flashed through his mind momentarily before Chen Lun recalled that he was in Mrs. Caroline’s apartment.
‘Can the influence of the Door of Slumber extend even to the present world…’
He immediately grew extremely cautious of that inevitable gateway leading to the Dream Realm.
Several small figures appeared by the side of Chen Lun’s bed.
It was Nada and about a dozen black cat warriors.
Nada got up, shaking its head groggily, and instinctively picked up the giant ax beside it, warily scanning the unfamiliar setting.
When the group of black cat warriors saw Chen Lun sitting on the bed, joy and respect appeared on their faces as they hastily raised their paws in salute.
Nada asked again with curiosity:
“Is this the present world?”
Chen Lun nodded at them, then raised his index finger to his lips.
“Yes, this is the present world… But please keep quiet first, or it’ll cause unnecessary commotion.”
“We will listen to you.”
Nada immediately understood and spoke cautiously.
It turned its head and began whispering with its black cat brethren; soon, each of them became obedient as little angels, putting away their weapons and squatting on the floor.
Yet, unable to control their curiosity, their eyes roamed around, sizing up the surroundings in a sneaky, comical manner.
Chen Lun smiled wryly, then turned his attention to the next room.
Listening intently for a while, using his Five Senses Perception, he sensed that Mr. Tao Te was still lying in bed asleep, breathing steadily.
Chen Lun furrowed his brows.
‘Hmm? Maybe Mr. Tao Te is still trapped in the Dream Realm…’
He told the black cats not to wander around the room, and then he himself used Instantaneous Movement, passing through a wall to appear beside Mr. Tao Te.
After a brief scout, Chen Lun sighed in relief.
‘It turns out to be just spiritual fatigue, falling into deep sleep… By dawn, he should wake up as a normal person would.’
Glancing at the wall clock, it was now two o’clock in the morning. Mrs. Caroline had already gone to sleep, and it wasn’t suitable for Chen Lun to disturb her, so he returned to his room.
Chen Lun poured himself a glass of water, then turned to Nada and asked:
“Are you guys hungry? Want some food?”
“It’s okay, Transcendent Lord, we are used to it,”
Nada waved its hand hurriedly.

The black cats embarrassedly lowered their heads.

Chen Lun shook his head with a laugh, looking sympathetically at the group of black cat warriors.
They were supernatural creatures of a simple nature, possessing strength comparable to a Mid Sequence Transcendent, yet now they were as pitiable as ordinary stray cats.
“Don’t worry, resources are plentiful in the present world, unlike the barren Dream Realm… You won’t go hungry anymore.”
Chen Lun retrieved a stack of dried pancakes, some jerky, and canned food from his Blood Poem Ring. He placed a water jar next to the food and then motioned with his hand.
“For now, make do with these. Once it’s daylight, follow me back to the base, and then you can eat something better.”
“Thank you, Transcendent Lord!”
Nada expressed gratitude immediately.
The black cats saluted gratefully and then devoured the food voraciously.
Chen Lun smiled as he watched them, then leaned back against the headboard, his gaze lowering.
He began contemplating his recent experiences at the edge of darkness in the Dream Realm, myriad questions swirling in his mind, leaving Chen Lun utterly confounded.
‘If Arno is indeed another prince of the Sun Royal Family, as I suspect, why would He stay at the edge of darkness? Could the sinner mentioned by Dazlert be Arno…’
His brow furrowed slightly.
‘Moreover, how strong is Arno actually, to have single-handedly thwarted countless years at the edge of darkness, and even though only a remnant body was left, still managed to block most of the swarm of polluted insects… If not for Him, would the world already face a terrible disaster?’
Chen Lun took a deep breath, retrieving the ring token given to him by Immortal Realm Arno, engraved on the inside with the phrase “Hunt the darkness forever.”
His thumb gently caressed the ring, thinking about whether he could seize the opportunity to inquire about related information from Princess Anna.
