He bent over to let the lizard go.
“It’s mostly likely an ambush…”
Chen Lun thought to himself, sighing quietly.

He instructed his subordinates to stand by and immediately strode toward a large tent in the center of the army. The guardian at the entrance saluted him upon seeing him.
Chen Lun nodded, lifting the tent flap and entering.
Inside the tent, a burly, bearded man sat on a folding chair, dressed in a general’s uniform, with several high-ranking military officials beside him. Across from them sat several middle-aged men and women, dressed respectively in the clergy garments of the Moon Church and Hailing Group.
“Hmm? Governing Officer Jack, you’ve arrived,”
General Vance glanced at the entrance and indifferently picked up his coffee cup for a sip.
“Are you here to also remind me that there’s an ambush by Anlong’s forces in the canyon?”
Chen Lun was somewhat surprised, then looked toward the individuals from the Moon Church and Hailing Group, deducing that they might have also noticed something amiss and had forewarned General Vance.
“Yes, General, I’ve noticed some clues. The canyon might be dangerous; it would be best for the army to bypass this area,”
Chen Lun nodded and said.
General Vance, however, let out a slight laugh.
“It’s not that I don’t believe you, but the scouts and Mechanical Falcon have already fully surveyed the valley and found no trace of the enemy forces… Taking a detour is safe, but it would delay our opportune moment and slow down the overall progress of the battlefield,”
“General, the enemy might have used supernatural means for concealment. Priest Kuni and I have sensed an abnormal, mysterious aura…Governing Officer Jack seems to have felt the same. For caution, please reconsider,”
A high-ranking female clergy member of the Moon Church said gravely.
General Vance and the high-ranking military officials beside him whispered for a moment, then after some thought, he said to Chen Lun and the others:
Afterward, the clergy of the Moon Church and Hailing Group spoke no further, stood up, and left the tent. Having given their warning, they had fulfilled their responsibility. What to do next still depended on General Vance’s decision.
Seeing this, Chen Lun also knew there was no point in staying and turned to leave.
But he shook his head inwardly, as he saw that General Vance clearly hadn’t taken their words seriously.

The army finished preparing and continued its march, but the direction was still toward the interior of the canyon.
Chen Lun sat in the carriage, lifted the curtain and watched this scene, then turned with a stern face to his subordinates and said:
“If we encounter any sudden situations later, keep an eye on General Vance’s carriage and try to protect his life as much as possible… Beyond that, there is no need to pay attention,”
His subordinates were quite surprised, but they didn’t ask further, only solemnly replied:
Suddenly, as the entire army entered the interior of the canyon, a strange noise came from above.
The cactuses on both sides of the canyon walls suddenly burst open, revealing giant “meat carpets” as brilliant as flowers!
Out of them crawled scores of naked humans, covered in slime, who with ferocious and fierce faces threw the explosives in their hands.
“For the Kingdom! Eliminate the invaders!”
For a moment, the inside of the canyon shook and roared.
