He had implanted “Serpent Parasitism” into the man.
Chen Lun planned to test the waters before making any plans. If he was wrong, then he would let the Serpent Parasitism self-destruct, as no one would know, but if his gamble was right, it would be a significant achievement.
After completing his task, he nonchalantly leaned on his Silver Staff and strolled back to the Generous Church District.
Chen Lun had dinner with his subordinates, listened to Alec playing a tune afterward, and then took a walk with Floey in the square of the Generous Church District, holding hands.
The two were bathed in the faint Moonlight, the atmosphere tranquil yet cozy.
“Sorry, Floey, for being a little busy lately and not being able to spend as much time with you.”
“No need to apologize, my lord.”
Floey smiled gently, using a term of endearment as she uttered the formal salutation. She lifted a strand of her light golden hair, tousled by the breeze, behind her ear, turned her head, and gazed at Chen Lun with her pretty pale purple eyes, silently.
“I know you do all these things for the sake of peaceful days.”
She mustered the courage to draw closer, intertwining her hands around the arm of the man she loved. Floey seemed a bit distracted and after a while, she asked:
“Will we be able to live those peaceful days?”
“I promised I would show you sights of beauty you’ve never seen before, and when that time comes, it should be only the two of us, with no one else and nothing else to disturb us.”
Floey looked up, making eye contact with him, her smile brimming with joy.
The duo continued their quiet stroll across the square, and in the distance, only the Black Crystal artisans cloaked in large black capes, and the Black Cat Samurai Squad could be seen patrolling silently.
The Black Crystal artisans paid no heed to the couple in the square. Only the black cats would stop at a distance and bow in silence.
“Are you still having that strange dream lately?”
Chen Lun suddenly asked.
He meant it as a casual question, but to his surprise, Floey nodded slightly.
“I hadn’t had it for a long time, but a couple of days ago, there was another occurrence. The dream was still shrouded in darkness, that familiar voice repeating the same words… telling me not to go any further.”
Chen Lun’s expression turned grave.
He could almost confirm now that the dream was significant for Floey; perhaps it was some sort of warning from the Silent Lady… that is, Moon Goddess Margaret.
‘What exactly does “do not go any further” mean?’
As he pondered, Chen Lun suddenly halted.
Floey looked puzzled at his side.
“Someone has come to visit…”
Chen Lun said softly.
His gaze grew intense because just then, the Serpent Parasitism he had planted earlier in the day had suddenly lost connection… and at the same time, a carriage entered the Generous Church District.
Floey’s eyes sharpened, the tenderness on her face gradually fading.
“But we’ll find out soon. Go and inform the others, but no need for a big fuss. After that, you can come and meet this nighttime visitor with me alone.”
Floey hummed in acknowledgment, obediently turning to leave.
Chen Lun straightened his hat and, holding his Silver Staff, walked towards The Great Gate.
