Journey to the End of the Night Chapter 147

147: Chapter 146: Her Situation 147: Chapter 146: Her Situation Baili An muttered a sound and continued to follow her forward.

Wen Hanwei hadn’t yet crossed the threshold when suddenly her figure slightly changed; she quietly lowered her head and crouched down.

Baili An crouched down as well.

The reason was simple.

Before them, at the gate of the hall, lay a corpse, only half-buried.

No, to say it was half-buried might be inappropriate, because it seemed that the gales of time had swept away the yellow dust and sand, exposing half of the corpse.

To Baili An’s surprise, the skeleton was not that of a Demon; its form was that of a human.

In such a place, within the pitch-black ancient city of Chaotic Netherworld Valley, lay buried a human skeleton.

It wasn’t just abrupt but also utterly baffling.

The flesh of the skeleton had decayed, but beneath the skeletal skull lay a dried heart, pierced by a blade, obviously a fatal wound.

What made Baili An even more curious was the cultivation node at the center of the heart, which showed signs of having been ignited.

“This is the remains of a human Cultivator,” Wen Hanwei said without opening her eyes.

Her fingertip lightly touched the chest of the skeleton and she came to a precise conclusion.

Baili An asked, “How could the remains of a human Cultivator appear here?” In the Chaotic Netherworld Valley, where killing was the norm, burying bodies seemed superfluous.

“I don’t know, and it’s not our concern,” Wen Hanwei said coldly, standing up and fearlessly proceeding forward.

Without a change in expression, Baili An shifted his gaze from the skeletal fingertips, where a snake-shaped silver ring was fitted.

As if he had seen nothing, he silently noted the appearance of that ring.

For some reason, Baili An was very interested in the identity of this person.

Upon entering the hall, the yellowed stone walls were painted with ancient oil paintings.

The style was old, and most of the stone-carved oil portraits were blurred, nearly indiscernible.

Above the dome, embedded black crystals were deeper than the night.

Baili An didn’t look further; his gaze remained unfocused as he followed Wen Hanwei.

But at this moment, his heart felt as though it was tightly grasped by a hand; the recently cleared cultivation node started to heat up.

Because at this moment, he saw the man sitting on the throne deep within.

The man’s stature was not imposing, even somewhat pale and slender, dressed in an ancient gold-black robe, ornate and cold in style, mysterious and noble, reminiscent of the dark night.

The man propped his chin, seated on the throne, appearing to be sleeping.

His face was extremely elegant and beautiful, his lips blood-red and predatory, his facial features more delicate than a woman’s, his nose high and somewhat foreign.

This man had platinum blond slightly curly long hair which faintly emitted a subtle hue, seductively mysterious in this dark space, yet without loss of majesty.

Wen Hanwei also sensed this strong aura emanating from the end of the hall, spanning across the dark ages.

She slowly opened her eyes, the crystal amber pupils reflecting boundless darkness.

Her voice was slow and calm, “Is that the Lord of Chaotic Netherworld Valley?”

Baili An’s pupils clearly reflected the man on the throne slowly opening his eyes.

His lips curled up slightly with a smile that hinted at toying with his prey.

He raised a finger, resting it against his crimson lips.

He spoke, his voice deep and magnetically masculine, “This way is impassable.”

Wen Hanwei drew the Yuxiao Sword in response, stating coldly, “It seems, defeating you will allow us to leave this place.”

The man on the throne elegantly crossed a leg, his gaze exceptionally cold and deadly, “A mere Immortal of the Tribulation Realm dares to speak so boldly before me!”

The final words “speak so boldly” bore an infinite authority, like an ancient Great Wall collapsing, unstoppable, the heavy Astral Wind eroding the stone-carved depictions even deeper!

The hard ground appeared as though clawed by a savage beast, leaving numerous deep marks.

Wen Hanwei stepped forward, her body slender yet exceptionally resilient beneath her white robe.

She let out a clear cry, her sword whistling through the air in the darkness, slashing it open.

Darkness was cut apart, countless black fragments scattered like torn paper, then fluttering down.

From the moment she entered the dark ancient city, Wen Hanwei’s amber eyes in the long dark night welcomed countless specks of light.

Behind the light and shadow, high above on the throne, was the outline of that man.

The essence of darkness was instantaneously crushed, with Wen Hanwei at the center, beneath her feet Sword Qi formed a potent misty Sword Array, roiling and surging.

In the interplay of light and shadow, the white Sword Qi mist darkened, its floating trajectory solidifying into stone.

The atmosphere rapidly changing, the Dark Domain instantaneously swallowed up, a fiery golden sun ablaze, casting layers of mountains undulating.

Transforming the essence of Mount Heng, and equating to the moral fiber of all beings; like a balance, capable of becoming heaven and earth, known as Mount Heng.

One of the Five Immortal Mountains, summoned by her sword, turned from illusion to reality, sketching out a majestic and pressing Sword Array domain.

The ancient and mysterious black hall had completely vanished; amid the brilliant golden light, the woman in white stood alone, her garment traced by ethereal white mist, with the golden sun rising from the east.

The sunlight shined obliquely, her amber eyes deeply contained countless ancient sword arrays, sketching one magnificent stroke after another.

The gold sword movement drove away the darkness, with bell sounds heard from afar, resonating with the chants.

Before her were thriving flowers by the roadside, forests and springs splashing, morning dew flowing, and gentle spring breeze brushing the willow fluff on both riverbanks.

Wen Hanwei declared, “My limit is not merely ten meters.”

Before Baili An’s eyes, the view filled with white clouds flowing like water, high mountains and rivers; all were unparalleled Sword Intent.

Within the materialized Mount Heng, remnants of mottled black shadows lingered, light as black snow fluttering, that was the domain of that man.

Baili An was profoundly moved by this scene.

This was the first time he had felt the sunshine since his long slumber from ancient times, it wasn’t burning; it was a distant and familiar warmth.

The man on the throne narrowed his eyes slightly, seemingly feeling this light was too gentle.

Gentle, yet somewhat sharply blinding.

Without standing up, he revealed a casually cold smile, “Oh?

You actually use the sword to borrow the momentum of Mount Heng of the Five Mountains to contend against my Dark Domain, you do have some ability.”

The man, seemingly a person bored for years, gradually entertained, with hair-colored eyebrows slightly raised, “Come, tell me your name.

There aren’t many who can be killed by me and have their names remembered, so feel honored.”

“Shouldn’t you state your own name first as the most basic battle etiquette?”

Wen Hanwei snorted coldly, waving the Yuxiao in her hand.

The clear sky and Mount Heng instantly shrouded in a layer of sand and hurricane.
