"Qiao Ling’er, upon entering my Buddhism, no killing, no adultery, no plundering, do you accept?"
Xuanzang, holding a razor in his hand, stood next to Qiao Ling’er and asked.
Qiao Ling’er, unfamiliar with these concepts, directly responded.
As soon as the words fell, Xuanzang’s razor flashed coldly, and instantly another lock of hair was in his hand.
The hair, of course, was Qiao Ling’er’s.
"Qiao Ling’er, upon entering my Buddhism, no meat, no alcohol, do you accept?"
After speaking, Xuanzang removed another lock of Qiao Ling’er’s hair.
"Qiao Ling’er, upon entering my Buddhism, no indulgence in pleasures, only the ancient Buddhas and the dim lamp as companions, experiencing the sufferings of the world, do you accept?" "I do!"
"Qiao Ling’er, upon entering my Buddhism, maintain benevolent thoughts, treat all beings equally, promote Buddhism, all beings are Buddhas, do you accept?"
As Xuanzang asked more rapidly, Qiao Ling’er responded more swiftly.
In a short while, all of Qiao Ling’er’s hair had fallen to the ground.
By then, he was considered a member of Buddhism.
And moreover, he was personally ordained by Xuanzang.
Do not overlook this aspect, as in the entire Southern Continent Jambudvipa, how many monks could boast of being personally ordained by Xuanzang?
Merely by virtue of this status, even the monks of New Buddhism must show respect to Qiao Ling’er, who had just become a monk.
Sand Monk’s initial caution also dissipated, as now that Qiao Ling’er had been ordained, he too was a part of Buddhism.
"Now that you have entered my Buddhism, you must adhere to the precepts. Do not be confined to a temple, the Three Realms are vast, where can one not attain Buddhahood."
"Today, I shall bestow upon you the Dharma Name, Wuyue."
Xuanzang instructed Qiao Ling’er.
"Holy Monk, does the Buddha exist in the Ultimate Bliss World of the Western Heaven?"
Qiao Ling’er, having shaved his head, was now the monk Wuyue of the New Buddha Temple, his delicate features hard to conceal.
"Where the human heart harbors Buddha, where is not Ultimate Bliss?"
Xuanzang smiled and spoke thus to Qiao Ling’er without providing an answer.
Although many issues were not discussed with him, Xuanzang was aware that Mount Meru had been occupied by Wu Tian and had become the land of the Demon Clan.
Thus, facing Qiao Ling’er, he could only explain in this manner.
"I have learned, Master!"
Qiao Ling’er obediently said to Xuanzang.
"Sand Monk, take your brother Wuyue to find a dwelling, and then get him some monk robes."
Xuanzang arranged for Sand Monk.
Facing Qiao Ling’er’s inquiry about the Western Heaven, he did not know how to respond.
Especially since the farther he reached into the Western Heaven, the more cruelties he uncovered, yet the more exalted the All Buddhas seemed.
After his return, he preferred to be called the Holy Monk rather than the Sandalwood Merit Buddha.
"Alas, Ultimate Bliss is no longer here; yet, where is not Ultimate Bliss?"
Xuanzang sighed and then left the Great Hall with Sun Wukong.
On Mount Huaguo, Sun Wukong opened his eyes and said to Wang Yang, "Elder brother, are you not afraid of facing Wu Tian?"
"Wu Tian and we have no serious conflicts; our past alliance was merely for mutual benefits!"
Wang Yang calmly uttered.
As for the ordaining of Qiao Ling’er by Xuanzang, he did not have many thoughts.
They were bound to become enemies sooner or later, anyway.
As Wang Yang pondered this matter, Wu Tian on the Great Hero Treasure Hall of Mount Ling of the Western Paradise felt something, a thought that spread across the entire Southern Continent Jambudvipa.
