Jujutsushi Wa Yuusha Ni Narenai Chapter 368

「What… In the world is this?」

Randou replied curtly while creating one 『Kettle』 after another!.

Randou's vocation was 『Geomancer』.

According to Momokawa, she was a truly versatile spellcaster who had both offence and defence. Rather, I'd been wondering why Randou couldn't explain her own vocation.

Anyhow, Randou freely created the kettle-like thing from the ground of the plaza, the way she did it was indeed a very earth,y magic-like.

「Hey, you're not thinking about cooking with this dirty-looking kettle, right?」 New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on novel•fire.net

It would collapse the moment we filled it with water, turning it into mud.

「Rest assured, my 『Witch's Kettle』 is cleaner than poorly made cookware――」

「Awesome, what kind of magic is that?」

「I'll tell you about that later. By the way, Hayama-kun, do you have an allergy or aversion to a certain kind of food?」

「A healthy chad like me isn't picky about food.」

「What about Kinako and Beniwo?」

「Same goes for Kinako. Though he prefers meat. Beniwo likes raw meat.」

Though Kinako could judge whether something was good to be eaten or shouldn't be eaten by himself, Beniwo's palate was closer to that of a dog. Thus, as their owner, I had to be very careful when it came to their diet.

Some said that you shouldn't give chocolate or onions to dogs. What humans find delicious might be unpalatable for their pets.

「So, it's an order for two, is it?」

「Yup. Too bad we can't make most of the food without Mei-chan.」

Momokawa and Randou started rummaging the chest they carried with them while chatting lightly―― Rather, what's with that chest?

「Hey, why do I feel that box kinda looks like a treasure chest?」

「It's a treasure chest.」

「Of course, this place is a dungeon, after all.」

Man, the dungeon of another world is awesome, it was as if we were in the ga—Wait a second, this place is a real dungeon?

「Say, Momokawa, I've never expected that you could take so much during such dire moments.」

「Coz I need good materials for when push comes to shove. I wish that such moments never happen, and yet…」

Said Momokwa as a shadow cast on his visage, he took out a leather bag from among the numerous items he stuffed into the chest.

The thing he took out was a fatty, lean meat.

Why did he store raw meat inside the treasure chest? Could it be that it could act like cold storage?

I had a lot of questions, but more and more questions kept popping up as I saw Momokawa do the preparation and lost the timing to ask the question.

Momokawa started cooking on top of the stone table Randou made, he was clearly using a shiny, new-looking cooking knife that had been seemingly just taken out of the store and a beautiful-looking wooden chopping board.

After he skillfully minced the vegetables that he took out after the meat, he placed them inside of a huge bowl.

When he poured water into the black kettle, it boiled up in no time, even though he wasn't using fire. He threw the ingredients into the kettle, added white things that looked like salt and pepper, and finished it up by adding a mysterious-looking sauce.

The figure of a Momokawa cooking kinda reminded me of the figure of an only child who had no choice but to cook by himself since his parent were too busy with their work.

Yes, it was as if he was cooking inside a home kitchen instead of doing survival cooking in the wild.

It made me feel like an idiot since the only thing I could do the best in this one week was grill fish with a bonfire.

「You have everything from the ingredients, flavouring, even the cookware…」

Appearance-wise, they all seemed to be homemade. Nevertheless, I doubt there'd be something like a supermarket in Japan where you could buy anything in the dungeon of another world of sword and magic .

That's why he must've collected all of that by himself in the span of three months after being thrown into another world with only a gakuran and bag.

Just what kind of magic did he use to be able to gather these kinds of ingredients?

「Momokawa~, Is it ready~??」

「A bit more~, Rather, you've already eaten during the victory celebration, right, Randou-san?」

「I'm famished again since so many things happened at once after that.」

「Geez, can't be helped I guess. But don't expect too much from the taste.」

Randou, are you sure it is all right to leave everything to Momokawa, who only uses a kettle? He's clearly going to mooch you.

The cooking finished in 30 minutes.

He did say that we shouldn't expect too much in terms of taste, but…

「Awesome, a normal food tastes just right.」

「Yes, just your usual food.」

Said Momokawa, who prepared three dishes like no big deal.

The first dish was a steaming vegetable soup served from a kettle.

The second dish was the main dish,a  thick lean meat steak.

The third dish was bread. Yes, BREAD.

「How did you have bread!?」

「We got lucky and found wheat flour by chance.」

In my case, I don't think I could bake a loaf of bread even if I found wheat flour. This soft and white bread was as delicious as the bread found in a bakery.

My mom's attempt at making homemade bread with a home baking machine turned into a mess, though.

「Well then, let's dig in.」

Momokawa said "Let's dig in" and started eating as if this level of cooking was normal.

I swallowed nervously as I looked at the meal before me, a proper modern meal after a week, with slightly trembling hand, gripped knife and fork.

I quietly whispered "Let's dig in", and started digging into the medium rare steak, which still had its meat juice dripping.

Yummy. This is too yummy.

As for what was so tasty about it, it wasn't just salt, it was also that there was a proper steak sauce.

Though I could easily procure meat by hunting, it was another matter when it came to spice. Not to mention that I didn't even know the recipe to make a proper sauce.

This steak wasn't something that I could enjoy in survival mode, this steak was the taste of modern civilisation.

「Pugaaa! YuMMy! Jaja, SO YumMy!」

Kinako roared the moment he took a bite of the steak.

That was only natural since this was a properly seasoned and cooked dish.

I mean, this, Momokawa's properly made special steak, could be compared with frozen food. This was a taste that you could only get at a proper steak house.

「Hey, Kinako just roared, will he be all right?」

「Yeah, he just shouted ‘Yummy'.」

「Rather, this is Jaja meat, huh.」

「So you know about Jaja.」

「According to Kinako, it was something like a deer that he used to hunt.」

「I see, so you really can have a proper conversation with him.」

Hey, so you're actually doubting my conversational skill being just one-way. This isn't some dumb pet owner bragging, "I can talk to my dog".

「Isn't this the first time you've cooked since our first meeting?」

「We ate snake back then.」

Ain't eating snakes like a template of survival cooking? So Momokawa is a veteran through and through.

I saw snakes in the forest many times before, but I never caught or ate them. I mean, it's not that I was reluctant or anything; it's just, you know, if they were poisonous, that’d be game over for me, right?

「Haah, the soup is just as delicious.」

This soy sauce-like flavour was especially comforting. I knew that it wasn't soy sauce, but I appreciated the effort of trying to make it as close as possible to soy sauce.

And this soup had various vegetables.

I've only eaten one or two vegetables that were guaranteed by the tiny spirit as edible plants, and I'd been worrying about my unhealthy diet lately.

「Somehow, I kinda feel bad for receiving such a feast.」

Not only did he treat me, he even gave the cooked dish to Kinako, and raw Jaja meat to Beniwo. Even I knew that this wasn't something that could be shared nonchalantly in this kind of situation.

「Don't worry about it. How about some dessert too? It's just apple, though.」

Having dessert alone was already a luxury.
