Kill the Sun Chapter 766

A fleeing Hero's head exploded before the body was thrown through the city walls.

Every Hero in the city watched in horror as the headless body shot into the sky again.

What the fuck were they supposed to do?!

This was their Governor!

Their Governor was a Specter?!

A bright light appeared in the sky, and the Governor hit the ground again, but this time, there was a Zephyx Suppressor around her.

"Let me go! I'm not a Specter!" she shouted.

The Heroes watched their Governor in shock.

"Wait! I am a Specter!" she suddenly shouted. "I can prove it! Just destroy my head again!"

The Heroes were shocked at the sudden change.

That sudden change happened because Nick transmitted something to her.

"Be suppressed in the city or be killed. Your choice."

In confusion, the Heroes apprehended their former Governor.

It had rained Specters for the entire day.

After the first Demon was captured, the Governor suddenly vanished.

When Nick had seen that, he assumed she was a Specter.

He suspected that she was a Specter but couldn't be sure since she was a Mid Hero.

So, he launched an attack that a Barrier would be able to deal with.

Lo and behold, there was no Barrier.

'Quite a lucky find,' Nick thought. 'Seems like the Specters in the different cities are becoming more anxious.'

This was the ninth city Nick had paid a visit to, and judging by their reactions, they had already heard of this phenomenon.

A powerful Extractor who kept gifting Specters to cities.

'This is a good sign,' Nick thought. 'The more the Specters fear me, the more likely they are to make mistakes.'

Nick went to the next city, and he decided to watch it for a while.

He took special note of the Specialists and Heroes of the city.

Then, he started his rampage again.

One Specter after the other was exposed, and Nick very quickly took note of something.

All the Specialists were out, waiting for more Specters.

The Specters represented money falling from the sky, and all the Manufacturers mobilized their entire force to capture them.

The Specters were not assigned to anyone. The Manufacturer that got the Specter first would get to keep it.

So, naturally, everyone was on high alert.

Well, everyone except for one Specialist, who was hiding.

Nick searched for the Specialist and found him relatively quickly.

Nick attacked him, but a Barrier appeared that blocked his strike.

'He's human?' Nick thought. 'But then, why is he hiding here?'

Naturally, the Specialist immediately became panicked.

"I'm not a Specter! I just hate my job!"

'He's suspicious enough. If he's not a traitor, I will apologize and gift him something.'

Nick destroyed the Specialist's Barrier and pushed him to the ground.

A cloud of darkness came out of Nick, blocking out all the light.

The next moment, the Nightmare's influence appeared, but Nick controlled it.

'This is not as subtle as my self-made ability, but I can still use the Nightmare's illusions to read someone's mind.'

The Nightmare always used the most terrifying things a person could imagine, and very often, these things were related to their personal life.

Loved ones getting killed.

Their status and jobs vanishing.

And the most terrifying thing for traitors was very often to get exposed.

After all, if they were exposed as a traitor, they would lose everything.

Sure enough, Nick very quickly saw the illusion of all the people judging the Specialist for working with a Specter.

They were accusing him of everything that he tried to keep hidden.

In a terrifying nightmare, the horrors always knew everything about you.

'He's a human servant of the new Fallen working for War, but just like the other ones, he doesn't know anything about it.'

'He just hears its voice occasionally and follows the orders.'

Nick punched the Specialist's head into a bloody pulp.

'Traitor!' he thought in hatred.

Nick left the hidden place and directly went to a Containment Unit.

He used his administrator rights as a special Agent and opened the employee entrance of the Containment Unit.

He walked in, killed the Specter, and walked back out.

This Specter had been a servant of the new Fallen.

If he had the possibility, Nick would have fed it to the Crimson Sea, but he didn't want to expose himself.

Not even he could override the alarm and delay that occurred when one opened the main door of a Containment Unit.

After dealing with the Specter, Nick returned to dealing with the remaining hidden Specters in the city.

Then, he dealt with the Specters in the surroundings.

By now, with all the cities he had visited in the last couple of days, Nick had uncovered over 200 Specters.

He dealt with every Specter inside the cities, but he only dealt with Adults and stronger when they were outside the city.

There were just way too many Hatchlings buried in the wilderness.

The world had so many Specters, but only a small portion of them ever managed to become Adolescents.

Almost all the Specters were born outside cities, and to become stronger, they needed normal humans and very weak Extractors.

But those only existed inside of cities, which meant that they had to enter the cities.

Yet, the cities were extremely fortified, and almost all Hatchlings would be noticed.

Because of that, 95% of Hatchlings just waited deep in the underground for things to change.

About 4% were stupid and just tried to enter the city before getting captured.

Only the last percent managed to actually enter a city and grow.

There were also a bunch of Hatchling Possession Specters buried deep underground, and those couldn't even move.

If Nick caught all of them, the cities would run out of Containment Units, and many Manufacturers would probably not even catch them. That would mean that the Hatchlings were either killed or ignored. ṟå𐌽Ȏ𝐛ĘṦ

Both cases would be bad.
