Li Guang's face showed obvious signs of disapproval at her words. He was seeing more and more of this Wang Hualing bad side. She was truly not how she had presented herself in front of the 'Li' family all those years.
"Haha..." all of sudden, Chen Yi let out a soft laugh. "Ling Jie seems to give pretty much importance to those family rules." She casually threw a remark.
Within her deep eye, there wasn't the slightest notion of fear. Instead, her eyes were enriched with derision towards the person before her.
"Is that a matter to laugh?" For some reason, Chen Yi cool laughter unnerved Wang Hualing. A little uncertainty appeared in her heart.
But who was Wang Hualing? Would she let this little discomfort to make her back off?
"Yes, Li family rules have always been revered not only in this household but all those wealthy families that look up to them. If Yi Jie does not even hold those rules in high regard, then I am afraid people might criticize you."
Li Luxian was about to speak up but Chen Yi squeezed his hand and cued him to keep his silence. Li Luxian shut his mouth and glanced at his wife with confusion apparent in his eyes.
Chen Yi gave him a reassuring smile. Li Luxian nodded in understanding and backed off. Since Chen Yi already had a plan, he would not ruin it. He would just enjoy from the sidelines.
Their little exchange was fairly discreet and short. Wang Hualing failed to observe.
Instead, all she saw was that Li Luxian didn't come forward to Chen Yi's defense. He even stepped back from Chen Yi, releasing his hold on her. Wang Hualing was thrilled to observe this.
Her confidence blew up and she decided to say some more words to build up some pressure upon Chen Yi.
