Last Divinity: The Advent Of Dreams Chapter 34

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Two years

Viona assured him it wouldn’t be back, at least not for a while. After collecting the sand they went back inside.

It was time to make glass, he had never actually done this before, he just knew how it was done because he was him.

After a few practices he was able to get the process right. It took him a while but he managed to make frosted glass.

He held an opaque glass 13 square centimetres in his hand. It was hard to see through it even with his enhanced eyesight.

It was time to test if it would work. Fortunately the sun was about to rise. He stood Infront of the cave entrance.

A few centimetres away from the furthest sunlight can reach and waited. He saw the red sun rising from the east like a burning ball of magma.

It took a while but it reached right Infront of the cave. He took a deep breath and so did everybody else.

Then he outstretched his hand into the sunlight with the frosted glass on top of it. He closed his eyes then everybody heard a scream.

" Ahhhhh it burns it burns." He screamed and they rushed to drag him back in then he started laughing.

" I’m fine I’m fine, I was kidding." He pulled back his hand and showed them and it was completely fine.

The glass on the other hand was hot, not enough to weaken it or compromise it structural integrity in any way but hot enough to burn your hand.

It had blocked and reflected most of the sun rays and heat. The test was a success and it was time to start the real project.

Khali planned to build a lot of things and building them underground would be inconvenient.

Since Lucy already came up with the steam engine, she had saved him a lot of time. He called everybody and told them his plans for the next five years.

The more he talked the more excited they were, some of the things he mentioned seemed impossible.

Giant steel machines that can fly without magic and could be controlled by anybody with training.

It was inconceivable to them but to him, these things were nothing. The last time he visited earth.

This level of technology could only be found in museums as ancient primitive technology. Their civilization had achieved space travel and were working towards time travel.

’ Baby steps.’ he whispered in his head. He couldn’t rush progress. They started working.

This time he had everybody help, except for the children, they didn’t have enough strength to assist with anything here.

Sam took a few warriors and mages to help him, he built steel poles according to Khali’s instructions.

The miners worked even harder, with the rails on place their progress was even faster providing Sam with more metal than he needed.

Viona took a few of the fastest warrior to explore the second layer. So far no life had been found on this layer until now.

They found a massive river running through the second layer tens of kilometres from the tunnel.

The river was clear, it was deep yet so clear they could see the bottom as if it was within arm’s reach.

The base of the river was pure silver making the river glister. Diamonds, gold and many more crystals could be seen at the bottom.

They twinkled like stars but above it all were the fish. Beautiful fish species with different colours, some small some large.

Some pure silver, some silver green, blue green, gold, red etc. There were even fish whose scales looked like they were made with crystals.

At the centre of the river was a diamond, they couldn’t tell it exact size but it was huge. When Khali saw it he couldn’t help but whistle.

The diamond was perfect in every way, perfectly cut as if made by a.." God." He whispered. Everything about this place screamed one of his siblings.

He reached into his pocket and took something out. They were all confused about what it was.

He pointed it at the river and the diamond, there was a flash of light followed by noise. They saw paper come out of this tiny black box with a glass eye.

Khali took it and shook it, the paper cleared and they saw the river on it. Their mouths opened wide.

They’ve heard him talk about crazy things but seeing it first hand was different. " Is that a painting?"

Viona asked him. He shook his head, " No it’s a picture and this is a camera." He answered while taking more pictures of the river.

" What’s the difference?" She asked. He turned and looked at her. " Pictures are better."

He was too lazy to explain especially considering he knew she wouldn’t understand anything in the end.

The only person he was interested in explaining things to was Lucy. Viona noticed he had no interest in telling her and she pouted.

After taking pictures of the landscape they left. They found nothing dangerous in this layer but then again they hadn’t explored all of it.

Each of the four layers were very very large, he did however find uranium which was a pleasant surprise.

With it he would be able to create nuclear energy in the future which was honestly the most available energy source to him right now except mana.

Unless of course he derived the higher forms of energy like vitronine which is created in the same way as nuclear energy.

Through vitron fission. However vitronine required a specific and very rare and scarce dense metal called vitronium 400.

Or perhaps make nuclear fusion and create a mini star. However the amount of energy needed for nuclear fusion was much larger.

Having to overcome the natural repulsion between the positively charged nuclei was not easy.

Even with magic, there were those who had star like magic but nobody below the true mage level could produce enough heat for that reaction.

Their spells were mostly just condensed fire spells or light but not actual stars. He sighed, he still had a lot ahead of him.

After going back they started the creation of the glass dome outside. They planted the steel poles.

These poles were actually frames for the glass. They worked by nightfall starting directly from the cave entrance.

And just like that, two years passed.
