Near the petting area, the two of them sat side by side on a bench, taking a break.
Thanks to about an hour of indulging in fluffy creatures, Charlotte’s skin was glowing. Her smile was more dazzling than usual too, it seemed she was thoroughly satisfied.
From behind the fence, the magic beast in the petting zoo barked and cried out noisily at her.
"Kyui kyui~!"
"Woof woof! Woof woof woof!"

"Hehe, I've become good friends with you all."
"Y-yeah. Seems like it...?"
Charlotte waved at the magic beast, smiling warmly. At first glance, it looked like a peaceful and heartwarming scene.
But Allen, who understood the language of monsters, could only stare with a serious expression.
When translated, their cries roughly meant the following:
"Big sis! Let's play! Pet me more, more!"
"Hey you, human! Try touching our Nee-san with even a single finger! I'll bite off all your vital points!"
"My capybara path is to serve you..."
These were some pretty extreme fan calls.
Even though the creatures were supposed to be tamed, this was abnormal by any standard. Allen watched the scene and asked Charlotte:
"Can, I ask you something."
"Y-yes? What is it?"
"Have you ever been especially liked by magic beasts before?"
"Huh?"
Charlotte widened her eyes in surprise.
"Rather than that it's the first time I've ever met a magic beasts this close."
"I see. So you either never had the chance before... or maybe your power was being suppressed by your environment."
"What are you talking about Allen-san?"
"Well, think of this as a little lecture."
An old skill from his past.
With a shrug, Allen began to explain.
"There are many different kinds of magic and special skills in this world. Some require innate talent..."
A talent for the sword that can cut through anything and everything.
A talent for alchemy that can create unknown substances from ordinary materials.
Allen himself had magical talent, he could cast spells without chanting, a high-level technique that he used naturally.
And as for Charlotte――
"You...maybe you have the talent to be a beast tamer."
"A b-beast tamer...?"
Just like the name implied, it referred to someone with the power to connect with and command magical beasts.
Even without any training, Charlotte had managed to completely captivate all those creatures. That alone suggested she had real potential.
After hearing that, Charlotte stared blankly at her own palms.
"That kind of power... in me? Is that really true?"
"Yeah. And it seems like your aptitude is exceptionally high."
For example, while Allen could just barely communicate with low-tier magic beast, a truly talented beast tamer could control high-ranking ones like Fenrirs, making them submit completely.
(...Maybe that’s why even the thugs in town ended up worshipping Charlotte...?)
If her power worked not only on monsters but on humans too, then there were almost no precedents for that.
However, if this incredible power had been put to use in her family's dukedom...her life might have been a little more peaceful.
While holding onto that bittersweet thought, Allen gazed quietly at Charlotte.

"Hm?"
Suddenly, someone called out.
They looked over to see a female zookeeper running over to them. Her clothes were covered in mud, and her face looked pale. She was panting and struggling to speak clearly.
"Y-you two were the ones in the petting area just now... the ones who built a whole harem, right? Are you by any chance famous magicians...?"
Allen frowned at her unusual behavior.
Then she grabbed his hand and cried out.
"Please, we need your help...! We can’t save them on our own...!"
