Level 1 to Apex: My Monster Templates Defy Reality! Chapter 54

Forsyx randomly slipped into one group and started to move out of the beginner Blackwater Village.

The large group moved for around 30 minutes before reaching a crossroads where the mud road split into five paths.

Forsyx saw a bunch of people walking down different roads, but a lot of them took the leftmost road.

That was the one that led to the closest city, Chimika City.

Forsyx glanced around the group and saw that while most of the players looked like casual ones, there were two groups who had taken the lead.

Except for them, he noticed a few serious players blending among the casuals.

From the way the serious players looked around, alert and vigilant, it was easier to pick them out from the others.

As they continued walking, it didn’t take long before he heard howling sounds as a bunch of wolves jumped on their group.

The two teams in the lead stepped up to fight them.

These beasts were around level 10–15, just beyond the beginner’s range, which made them a bit tricky.

Right before his eyes, a wolf opened its mouth and shot out a small fireball, but before it could land, one player hit it in the face.

The half-formed fireball exploded inside the wolf’s mouth, and it yelped in pain.

Not long after, another player stabbed a sword through its neck, ending the beast’s misery.

That was just the start. As they continued walking, more and more different beasts started to attack the players.

A few casual players joined the hunt enthusiastically, only to be used as meat shields by two big team members.

Interestingly, no one cared about those fools. Everyone who reached the beginner level limit knew the unspoken rules of Apex Ascension.

Forsyx just shook his head and simply enjoyed the walk, not bothered to hunt these beasts.

First, he could not shapeshift, and even if he could, he didn’t want to waste his energy on these canines.

It’s not like killing them would give him any experience—he had already killed around a thousand of them in the past two days.

These two teams likely wanted to start guilds. That’s why they were killing these beasts, as the drop rate outside of any wild zone was better.

It was a common thing.

He had even been part of such a group when he started his first guild.

Forsyx shook his head and focused on the two rows of long trees on both sides of the road.

They differed from the wild, randomly grown trees inside the forest.

It felt like someone had planted them a long time ago to preserve this dirt track.

He even saw faint carriage wheel marks in the center of the road. Likely from the carriages that transported goods from Chimika Town to the village.

With how faint those marks were, they were probably 3–4 days old.

These were things he hadn’t even noticed in his past life, but this time, it was the first thing that caught his attention.

In the future, it would become common knowledge that the best way to judge the condition of a city was by checking the tire marks on the road leading to it.

That single detail showed that even among tier-one cities, Chimika City was on the lower spectrum. But he couldn’t say for sure—after all, it could just be that the Blackwater Village had nothing worth transporting.

He shook his head, not thinking too much, and just continued to follow along, watching the ongoing fights ahead of him.

It took them four hours of walking before someone shouted, "I can see the stone wall!"

Everyone, including him, looked at the person, though none of them saw anything.

But then Forsyx noticed the guy’s eyes were glowing—likely from using a long-range vision skill.

It didn’t take long before he saw the bluish-grey structure on the horizon.

Everyone increased their pace at this.

Even the monster attacks started to decrease as they got closer to the city gates.

Not long after, he saw a bunch of players walking around the area, all wearing different clothes.

A few of them scanned their group—some with polite smiles, others with predatory grins.

Thankfully, none of them bothered with their group, and all of them eventually reached the queue in front of the city’s main gate.

As he moved closer to the queue, he noticed a couple of other new player groups approaching from different directions—likely from other beginner villages.

Forsyx didn’t bother to join the line and walked directly to the gate.

He wasn’t alone, though. There were others with guild badges who were doing the same.

There at the front, he saw two NPC guards in green armor collecting fees and issuing city passes to new players.

It was a legally mandatory step to enter any city.

Besides those guards, a bunch of players were moving around, all wearing the large crests of their guilds on their chests.

He scanned the crowd, trying to find someone with the Kiyon guild badge, but even after looking around for a full minute, he saw no one standing there.

Not wasting more time, he walked up to a guy with a Black Crow crest and asked, "Where’s the guy from Kiyon?"

The bulky guy turned toward him.

Forsyx saw the man smirk the moment he noticed the silver badge on Forsyx’s chest. Still, the guy was sensible enough to point inside the city. "Those guys are on the other side."

Forsyx raised an eyebrow, rubbed his forehead, and asked, "Wait, so no one’s on this side?"

The bulky guy shook his head. "Nah. You could wait, though. They’ll come out by evening."

Forsyx gazed up at the bright sun over his head. It was dead noon.

’Don’t tell me I have to wait half a dozen hours just to get inside the city.’

Forsyx glanced at the queue. Heck, even that would take around 3–4 hours.

He clenched his jaw and asked the guy, "Can you guys take me to the other side?"

The guy shook his head. "Nope. That’s impossible. You should know—we can only take our guild members."

Forsyx rubbed his forehead in irritation and pulled out a bunch of silver coins. "Here. Can you just call someone from the Kiyon guild, here?"
