Rick woke up to a strange warmth and the realization that he wasn’t alone. "Who said that!?"
"Mmmmm... must’ve been the wind." His eyes opened slowly as they got used to the soft morning light that came through the silk curtains of the pavilion.
The first thing he saw was Sylvia’s face, which was calm and peaceful as she slept. Her red and gold hair spread across the pillow like living flames.
"A-Ahh... yeah... I fucking forgot about this..."
She had her arm wrapped around his chest in a possessive way, and one of her legs was tangled with his under the furs. Both of them were naked, and the memories of what had happened the night before came flooding back.
Sylvia had finally decided that he was worthy enough to get what she had promised him as a reward after a few days of rest. And what a great reward it had been. Several times, each one more intense than the last, until they were both too tired to go on.
Rick lay there for a moment, just taking in the fact that this was happening to him. He was sleeping with a Dragon Queen. A real, thousand-year-old, incredibly strong Dragon Queen who had just spent the whole night telling him why she had lived so long and learned so much.
Rick whispered to himself, "Holy shit. That night really happened."
"I’m not dreaming! I really fucking did it...!"
Rick takes a deep breath just to scream inside his mind. "I FINALLY SUCCEEDED IN FUCKING A MILF!"
He looked down at Sylvia’s sleeping face and saw the small smile on her lips. He felt proud and almost giddy. He had survived three deadly trials, formed an unprecedented bond network, and now he had spent the night with royalty.
Rick said quietly, "Oh yeah~! I’m the fucking man," and smiled like an idiot. "I’m literally sleeping with the Queen of Dragons."
"I, Rick Rolland, a 24-year-old virgin who died in a gaming chair while gooning to milf videos, would never believe this."
Rick tried to move without waking Sylvia up. His body hurt in unusual, interesting ways, and the pain was nice because it brought back memories of everything that happened last night. But Sylvia’s eyes opened as he moved.
For a moment, she just looked at him, her amber eyes still sleepy. Then her face lit up with recognition and memory, and Rick saw the most beautiful smile he had ever witnessed.
"AGGGHHHH!!! THAT SMILE...!"
"The image I saw of her the first time I met her back then... I thought she was going to be deadly and harsh, but in fact, when she fell in love with me, she was totally 100% wife material...!"
She said softly, "Urm... Good morning, Rick..." Her voice was rough from sleep and other things.
"Morning," Rick said, suddenly feeling shy even though they had done so much together. "Did you get a good night’s sleep?"
"Better than I have in five hundred years." Sylvia stretched out slowly, not caring that she was naked, and Rick had to stop himself from staring. "You were very excited last night. I’m impressed that you could keep up."
Rick’s face got hot. "Yeah, well, you really did make me go insane with love and horniness."
Sylvia laughed, and the sound was warm and real. Then she sat up.
Rick blinked in surprise because the movement was so sudden. She looked out at the garden, the mountains in the distance, and the sky still painted with the aurora. Then, something seemed to take over her.
"I have to tell everyone," Sylvia said, and Rick had never seen that look in her eyes before. It was joy that is pure and unfiltered.
"Tell everyone what?"
"That I’m glad you’re finally mine, and of course, we really are a match."
"But... it seems like everyone probably knows that we did it." She stood up, still completely naked, and walked to the edge of the pavilion. "Still... I need everyone in the kingdom to know!"
"Sylvia, wait, maybe you should get dressed first—"
But it was too late. Sylvia took a deep breath, and when she spoke, her voice magically got louder so that it could be heard all over the citadel and beyond. It wasn’t a shout, but it filled the air with the weight and presence of real dragon power.
"GOOD MORNING, DRAKTHAR CITADEL! THIS IS YOUR QUEEN SPEAKING!"
Rick was embarrassed and quickly tried to cover himself with the furs. "Oh my god, what are you doing?!"
"I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT I HAD THE BEST NIGHT IN FIVE HUNDRED YEARS!"
"RICK ROLLAND, MY CONSORT, HAS EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY!"
"Hey, Sylvia!" Rick hissed, his face on fire. "You can’t just tell everyone that out of the blue...!"
"WHY NOT?! I’m glad!"
"EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW I’M HAPPY!" Sylvia turned to look at him, and her face lit up with happiness. "DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT’S BEEN SINCE I COULD SAY THAT HONESTLY?!"
Dragons were waking up all over the citadel to hear their queen’s news. A few people looked shocked.
Some people found it funny. A lot of people are jealous. Rick could almost feel the thousands of ancient beings rolling their eyes when they heard about their queen’s sex life.
"FURTHERMORE," Sylvia went on, as if she weren’t done, "I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT THE BOND NETWORK IS WORKING GREAT!"
"I can feel all of Rick’s partners through our connection, and I have to say that he has great taste in older women!"
Rick groaned and pulled a pillow over his face. "Oh my god, please stop talking for just one minute about embarrassing stuff...!"
"THE KNIGHT IS VERY LOYAL! THE MAGE IS VERY SMART! THE PRIESTESS IS VERY KIND! AND OF COURSE, I AM THE MOST POWERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL OF THEM ALL!"
A voice from far away said, "WE GET IT, YOUR MAJESTY! YOU’RE FEELING ALL FULL AND HAPPY!"
"Some of us are trying to sleep here because we didn’t get enough because of your moans and screams last night!"
"Get some sleep later! BE HAPPY FOR YOUR QUEEN NOW!"
Sylvia seemed happy with her announcement and turned back to Rick, who was still hiding under the pillow. She gently pulled it away, and his embarrassed face was clear.
"Why did you do that?" Rick asked in a weak voice.
"Because I wanted to." Sylvia sat back down next to him, and her happiness faded a little into something softer. "I’ve been alone for five hundred years... feeling all cold and far away, but now I’m not, and I want everyone to know it."
"Is that really so bad?"
Rick looked at her and saw the weakness behind the bold statement. He felt his embarrassment turn into something softer.
"No... I guess it’s not wrong. Maybe the next time, not so loud, or maybe no need for an announcement?"
"I won’t make any promises."
Sebastian finally showed up while they were getting dressed. He appeared on the railing of the pavilion with a look of deep disgust on his face.
"Good morning to you too, you annoying show of public affection," said the little butler, crossing his arms. "I hope you both feel very good about yourselves."
"We are, actually," Sylvia said with a smile as she pulled on her robes.
"Very... very... VERY HAPPY!"
