Life in North America, you call this an autopsy officer?! Chapter 504

The research facility had finished its rebranding.

Including the name and LOGO of Umbrella Company.

I must say, it looked much cooler.

Paired with the quasi-special forces uniforms worn by the security personnel and the large Umbrella logo on them, the first impression was one of solemnity and a forbidden zone.

Arriving here was like coming to a military research facility.

Of course, the security guards who remained were mostly military veterans.

They valued the comfort and safety here but could not be considered the real elite.

When circumstances allowed, Brian would certainly assemble an armed force composed entirely of Enhanced Humans and Beastification People.

The thing that pleased Brian the most about this facility was its ample space, housing four buildings with over a thousand different types of rooms and a large underground structure designed for dangerous experiments and detaining subjects.

Especially the laboratories, they were not only fitted with automatic electronic mechanisms but also physical structures and were built to type I red safety standards, costing no less than ten million US dollars.

And that wasn’t even counting the high-end equipment.

All of it together was no small sum; even with connections, much of the equipment was not for sale as they were prohibited items.

To some extent, Black Light Biotechnology Company was quite powerful; they simply gave away such a large research facility as if they were throwing away trash.

The on-site maintenance and security personnel numbered over a hundred.

Without a doubt, among these people were spies from Black Light Biotechnology, including among the remaining researchers.

Brian didn’t care about these.

The important research results would not be kept here.

The unimportant ones would not be worth the risk for others to steal, as it would entail offending him.

Under Gandob’s guidance, Brian passed through several security gates and arrived on the third sublevel.

After changing clothes and going through various complex procedures such as disinfection and sterilization, he finally entered a bright, spacious room.

Most areas of the room were cordoned off with special glass, allowing one to see the individual cubicles, each with various types of equipment and zone indicators.

However, in this large laboratory, only four people were bustling about.

Among these four, only one was Caucasian; the rest were Asian.

Judging by their facial features, they appeared to be of Chinese descent.

This was mainly due to different language pronunciations resulting in subtle variations in facial muscles; of course, for those who had lived here since childhood, it’s difficult to determine their country of origin by their faces.

Gandob introduced to Brian:

"The Caucasian inside is a previous level-C researcher at the facility, skilled in Biological Inheritance research, with a pre-tax salary of twelve thousand US dollars per month, plus project allowances and bonuses. However, the profitable projects of our facility have all been transferred elsewhere, so currently, we’re running at a pure loss.

The other three are of Chinese descent, also proficient in Biological Inheritance research projects and have previous experience at other research institutions.

They’ve just recently joined our Umbrella Company and are level-D researchers. As per tradition, unless they stay for three years or perform exceptionally well and get recommended for promotion by a project-leading level-B researcher, they can’t be upgraded to level-C.

As for level-B and level-A, you used to need to participate in the headquarters’ assessment, but now it’s up to you, the boss.

To lure these Chinese researchers over, I told them that you, the boss, don’t care about nationality, only about competence.

They were willing to take the chance, so they joined the company."

Brian nodded: "Don’t we have any new recruits among international students? We must also consider training fresh blood."

Gandob shook his head:

Many of the subjects at those higher education institutions don’t allow foreign nationals to participate.

Biotechnology subjects, even more critical, are heavily safeguarded. There are also many restrictions on course selection for early immigrants; hence we could only find Chinese descendants.

Actually, I personally like international students because those who can study abroad here are usually not from poor conditions back in their home countries; the majority are elites with high standards. The chances of them becoming talents are high and the probabilities of them job-hopping are lower.

The problem is we can’t find international students with the right background.

Many come here just to study cultural subjects..."

At this point, Gandob chuckled: "Honestly, I don’t even know what kind of culture this country has to offer, especially those who choose history. The books are so thin, and they study the history of other countries more. There are even students from Hua Country who come here to study Chinese as a major. Goodness, I guess they’re just here for a degree and the experience of studying abroad. It’s quite amusing..."

It was evident that Gandob had put in a lot of effort to investigate thoroughly in this area, ensuring not to waste Brian’s money.

This was what Brian was most satisfied with about Gandob.

A managerial subordinate? They don’t necessarily need to be exceptionally capable, but they should think like the boss, realizing the company is their own to work for.

Without this realization, how could the boss afford luxury cars and mansions?

Brian didn’t disturb the work of the researchers and instead asked Gandob to take him to a separate, enclosed laboratory.

Such labs are generally for level-B researchers to use. Lower-level researchers wishing to use them must get approval from a level-B researcher. Currently, Alpha was the only level-B researcher in the entire facility, and he was not present, so several labs were vacant.

After dismissing Gandob,

Brian first checked the lab and its machinery to ensure that no backdoors had been left.
