Limitless Fortune: I Collect SSS-Rank Skills as Payment Chapter 57

"Alright then. Let me teach you a few things about this world... and about our family, the Goldveils. Isn’t that what you want to know?"

Malcolm asked, to which Lucien simply nodded.

He wanted to know everything, not just about the world, but also about his family, the dungeon, and that Domain.

Now that he had awakened, he had officially stepped into the bottom rung of this world.

The more knowledge he had, the better.

If he wanted to use his system effectively, at least that much was necessary.

"Fair enough... then let’s go."

Malcolm stood up and asked Lucien to follow, his back straight and posture firm, ready to impart his wisdom.

Lucien was confused but instinctively followed Malcolm.

His grandfather didn’t say anything but simply led him through several corridors across arrays, eventually arriving at a massive, dome-shaped hall that looked like a mix between an ancient exhibition chamber and a grand cathedral.

"You do know that our world is called Soren, right?"

After arriving at the location, Malcolm suddenly turned toward him and asked suspiciously.

He felt his grandson had been left too much in the dark and didn’t even know the basics.

Lucien rolled his eyes at Malcolm. He could clearly see the doubt in his grandfather’s gaze and felt speechless because of it.

’It’s not my fault I know nothing, okay?’ he thought bitterly.

"Good. Then let’s start from there. Emerge!"

As soon as Malcolm’s voice rang out, the entire hall turned pitch black, as if the only source of light had been instantly cut off.

However, the darkness lasted only a moment as the hall lit up once again while the scenery changed drastically.

Just a glance, and Lucien couldn’t stop himself from cursing.

Because he saw that the once-empty hall was now slowly being filled from the ground up by a massive, glowing globe.

Yes, literally a globe, with its surface shifting with swirling clouds, drifting landmasses, and flowing light veins like glowing rivers of mana.

It hovered gently at the center of the room, suspended without any support, slowly spinning in eerie silence.

Dozens of symbols, sigils, and markers blinked across its surface, like stars mapping unseen territories.

For a second, Lucien stood frozen.

’Damn... so beautiful!’

Lucien had seen the "Sphere" in his previous life up close and thought it looked impressive.

But this—this was in a league of its own.

With all the arrays and magical embellishments, even though it was a projection, it looked incredibly real—surreal, even.

"See? This is our world, Soren. Well, at least... what it used to be."

Malcolm smiled, pleased by Lucien’s reaction, though he didn’t dwell on it and began explaining.

"The world of Soren, also called The Cradle of Magic, once had seven continents in its prime."

Malcolm’s voice echoed, drawing Lucien’s full attention.

"They are: Eryndor, the continent of magic."

As Malcolm spoke, the globe rotated on its own, showing the exact continent to Lucien’s astonished eyes.

Eryndor was massive and vibrant, the largest and most beautiful of all, glowing with mystic energy.

"Vael’Tor, the continent of Elves."

"Dravarn, the continent of Dragons."

"Myrrdan, the continent of Beasts and Monsters."

"Thundrake, the continent of Dwarves."

"Carag, a lowmarch mostly inhabited by humans."

"And finally, Velatrix, the continent of gold."

Each time Malcolm named a continent, the globe zoomed and highlighted it for Lucien.

He saw dense, towering trees blanketing Vael’Tor, enormous flying creatures soaring above Dravarn, endless battles and chaos unraveling across Myrrdan, mountains and volcanoes covering Thundrake, and then... Velatrix.

Velatrix shone the brightest, looked peaceful and beautiful, with golden cities, winding rivers, and lush green lands that looked as if they’d been pulled from a dream.

Among them all, only Carag seemed... unremarkable.

"A continent of gold? What does that even mean?"

Out of all the continents, Lucien was the most confused by Velatrix.

He could understand why Malcolm described the others the way he did after seeing the globe, but when it came to Velatrix, it just didn’t click.

Although it looked beautiful and peaceful, was that really enough to call it the Continent of Gold?

’Do they mine gold there or what?’

"Haha... that was just the name given by my Goldveil family to Velatrix in ancient times,"

Malcolm suddenly laughed.

"After all, back then, that entire continent completely belonged to the Goldveil Empire. So calling it the Continent of Gold makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?"

Malcolm smirked as he looked at the stunned expression on Lucien’s face.

"What?! Goldveil Empire? We... we owned an entire empire before?"

Lucien was, of course, shocked. That was something he had never even imagined, even in his dreams.

He couldn’t believe it at all, and suddenly narrowed his eyes and looked at Malcolm suspiciously, almost as if wondering if he was being gaslit.

’This old man is clearly trying to trick me, isn’t he?’

What kind of Goldveil family that once owned an empire looked like... this now? Wasn’t this a complete joke?

His suspicion was understandable.

"You brat, are you doubting me now?"

Malcolm looked speechless. After Lucien’s initial shock, he saw his grandson staring at him like he was some kind of delusional idiot.

It was as if Lucien was silently saying, "Nice try, but I’m not falling for that."

"Cough! Grandpa, you can’t blame me for this. You suddenly say our family owned an entire continent and an empire... Who’s going to believe that?"

Lucien coughed awkwardly.

"At least brag at your level..."

He mumbled in a low voice under his breath, but Malcolm heard him loud and clear.

"Damn it! You brat hasn’t even grown hair there and you’re already doubting me?!"

Malcolm was so pissed at being called a braggart that he quite literally fumed, steam almost puffing from his mouth.

"Cough. Then tell me... why are we in this condition now? What happened?"

Lucien felt that if he continued to doubt the old man, he might get smacked. So, he wisely chose to steer the topic away instead.

Whether their family owned a continent and an empire didn’t matter that much to him. He just wanted answers.

"Sigh... You still don’t believe me."
