The heavenly scent of the chocolate drifted from the oven, making Shen Xue and Lu Xinyi’s mouths water more and more with each passing second. Trying to concentrate on what she was doing, Lu Xinyi continued mixing the dark rich brown goo in her mixing bowl.
The scent and the look of yummy chocolate in front of Shen Xue were getting too much for him to handle, causing a loud rumble to come from his stomach.
“Big Sis, can I have a taste? Just a little bit. Please?” Shen Xue asked.
Lu Xinyi shook her head and pointed her forefinger to the twins who were busy grooming Mallow and Milktea on the floor.
“Nope. Help the twins first. If you weren’t such a scoundrel who took our food without permission, I wouldn’t have to kick you out of here.”
Shen Xue pouted. Why couldn’t she forgive him? He already paid the price for stealing their food. Those little demons had busted him to his sister-in-law, and now, he wasn’t allowed to step in their kitchen when she or his brother wasn’t around.
The beep of the oven was like an angel’s hymn to his ears.
Lu Xinyi promptly took out the three layers of chocolate cake from the oven and transferred it to a platter to cool down. She drummed her fingers on the countertop as she waited. Each passing minute was a torture for her and Shen Xue who was already sitting on the dining table with a plate and fork in front of him.
She cursed herself for not paying attention to the time. Her husband would be coming home soon. Damn Shen Yi. This was all his fault.
Another grumble was heard, but this time, it came from her stomach. Lu Xinyi threw all caution to the wind; she started filling the first layer with chocolate ganache, plopping another layers on top of that, and slathering the rest of the ganache around the cake.
Damn it. She couldn’t wait any longer. She would have to face Shen Yi’s wrath later, but it would be worth it as long as she could have her chocolate cake.
Groaning in satisfaction with her creation, she put the finished cake on the fridge to cool it down while she washed the dirty dishes to clean up the scene of the crime before her husband arrives.
She could hear the laughter of her children behind her while Shen Xue sat silently, waiting for his share of the cake.
It’s been a week since Madam Shen and Shen Huang visited their home, and since then, Shen Yi had forbidden her to eat an excessive amount of desserts. He even confiscated the snacks and chocolate bars she was hiding from him.
How the heck did he found where she was keeping them; Lu Xinyi didn’t have an idea.
While he would be grumpy and frustrated once he found out she baked and they ate a chocolate cake while he wasn’t around, he wouldn’t stay that way for too long. He wouldn’t say no to sex, right? Didn’t he say he would help her lose that extra weight?
Lu Xinyi let out a chuckle. Giving herself a pat for her cleverness, she couldn’t help but be thrilled that the cake should be done soon enough, and there wouldn’t be any traces or evidence of the existence of her cake by the time Shen Yi got home.
“Mommy? Is it done?” Little Yuyan asked, “Daddy might be coming home soon.”
“Wait for a while, dear. We just need to let it cool down.” At least she hadn’t made the twins overweight with all the food she was cooking for them.
Half an hour later, Lu Xinyi happily took out her masterpiece and placed it on their dining table. She sliced the cake into portions and served them to her brother-in-law and children. With a glass of milk for the twins and a cold fruit juice for her and Shen Xue, she took the first bite from her chocolate goodness.
Groaning in satisfaction, she patted her tummy and smiled. Ah, this was heaven, and she wasn’t the only one enjoying the treat as the twins and Shen Xue happily dug into their cakes. She blindly reached out her fork for another bite, but it never reached her cake as it suddenly disappeared.
Lu Xinyi blinked until she realized someone was standing behind her holding the plate with her heavenly cake. Shen Yi was standing behind her with a scowl in his handsome face, looking with disdain at her chocolate cake.
Without a word, he ate the cake on her plate much to her horror and took the remaining cake and shove it back to the fridge.
Lu Xinyi wept silently. This evil husband of hers kept taking her favorite cakes away from her.
