“Oww!” Shen Yi rubbed the side of his face that was slapped by his wife. “What was that for?”
He cursed himself. Lu Xinyi might be angry because he suddenly kissed her out of the blue and in public. So much for self-control. He stared at her, slightly in a daze as she pulled away from him and stood up. He could still the taste of sweet mango on his lips.
Lu Xinyi stomped her feet and slapped his arm.
“You… look what have you done to my ice cream?! You made it fall on the ground!” She whined. Her eyes teary as she mourned for her precious ice cream.
That was so delicious. The ice cream, not the kiss!
*sobs*
Damn Shen Yi for kissing her.
It was only then she realized what had happened.
Did he kiss her? Her fingers touched her lips.
Yes. Indeed, he kissed her.
Her gaze flickered on his face. There was a slight blush on his cheeks as he tried to turn away from her scrutinizing gaze.
Shen Yi coughed awkwardly as he stood up, giving back her shoes to her hands.
“It’s almost time for dinner. Come, let’s eat and I’ll replace that ice cream for you.” He turned his back on her and started walking ahead of her. Lu Xinyi could only stare on his back as he walked away.
“Aren’t you going to come?” he asked when she stayed frozen on her place.
Lu Xinyi brushed some of her hair over her ear and bit her lip in nervousness. She knew she was blushing but wouldn’t admit. Silently, she walked toward her husband and took his hands on hers. It was surprisingly warm and a little rough. She didn’t say anything as they walked back to the hotel.
The route back to the hotel was full of restaurants and shops trying to sell their products. From food to souvenirs, to novelty items to precious artifacts, Lu Xinyi’s eyes were filled with excitement as they look around. She was so enchanted and fascinated but she never asked Shen Yi to buy her anything.
What should have a twenty minutes walk turned into an hour, but they managed to find the closest restaurant on the hotel. It was a small family restaurant that had an outdoor seating with a stunning view of the park.
As if nothing had happened earlier, Lu Xinyi checked the menu with a smile. Shen Yi quirked a brow at her. Would there be a time that she will choose him instead of food?
He doubted. There were so many distractions that she couldn’t see his interest in her. He might not have known her for long but he knew Lu Xinyi was a kind, spontaneous and energetic woman. Sometimes her energy was too much, it was giving him a headache. Fortunately, his dogs, no, her dogs were active enough to play with her to drain all of that energy.
Plus she was bubbly and smart. She can hold some interesting conversations with him and they could go on without him getting bored. She was remarkably beautiful in many ways.
Lu Xinyi happily ate her Beef Sirloin Steak while Shen Yi had his pasta.
“Is your ex-boyfriend still trying to reach you?”
Lu Xinyi froze, gave him a confused look before frowning. Gong Yijun was still trying to call her but she refused to pick up his calls.
“Yeah, I have no idea what he wants from me. I already made it clear that we were done.”
“He’s an idiot.” Shen Yi said without really thinking what he had said before looking away. “He chose a cheap and fake gem over a diamond.”
Lu Xinyi smiled and went a little red around her ears.
“Hmm… but I think I need to change my phone number. I don’t think he will stop calling my phone anytime soon.” she replied.
“Of course, I will ask Qiao He to order another set for you. For the meantime, block all his calls and messages and don’t go to places where he could find you.”
Lu Xinyi didn’t need to know yet but he already started his way to retrieve what she’d lost. Gong Yijun dared to take and rob her father’s recipes? Then he should expect the price for his impertinence and betrayal to Lu Xinyi. As her husband, Shen Yi wouldn’t let anyone get away easily after offending his wife.
