Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth Chapter 432

Marcus was indeed generous, taking out eighty US dollars, "I'll cover the rest. Although I don't have money... I still hope they, mother and son, can recognize each other."

Jenny was somewhat surprised, "Marcus, you are the one who d the most. I will transfer the money to Kunni'er's mother as soon as possible, and I believe she will come over soon."

"It's also possible she'll take the money to buy drugs," Luke reminded.

The deputy team leader seemed to have thought of something, "Luke's remark reminds me.

Earlier, according to our analysis, Kunni'er was living in straitened circumstances, and the reason he could afford a splurge before his death was very likely because of his biological mother.

Logically speaking, his biological mother should have money, so why was she so impoverished she couldn't even afford the travel expenses?

Jenny, did you guys ask her?"

"Yes, I asked," Jenny collected the money and continued, "I asked her if she had come to Los Angeles recently?"

"She admitted that she came to Los Angeles to meet Kunni'er and said she couldn't even afford a plane ticket before Kunni'er sent her some money through the mail.

According to her, she has never given Kunni'er any money. On the contrary, Kunni'er gave her a sum of money when they parted.

However, that money was taken by her boyfriend."

The deputy team leader nodded, "This is interesting. Where did Kunni'er's unexpected fortune come from?

This money was a death warrant for him!"

Luke said, "We'll have to ask Derek and Jamie Brady then."

Pari Jones carried her briefcase through the crowded office hall to her own cubicle.

She didn't like such an office environment; she had always hoped for an office of her own.

After tidying up briefly, she held her cup and went to the pantry to pour herself a coffee.

Last night, in pursuit of investigating the news event about George, she had been up until three in the morning, finally coaxing some information out of Marcus's mouth.

At the moment, several colleagues were gathered in the pantry, chatting. They were also reporters, but as Pari hadn't been there long and wasn't very familiar with them, she didn't want to join in.

However, while pouring her coffee, she still overheard fragments of their conversation.

A white female reporter said, "Those guys at the LAPD never understand what human rights and respect mean, always looking down on everything with their noses in the air."

A black male reporter laughed, "My neighbor is a cop at the LAPD, and that guy stands at his yard gate with a cup of coffee every morning, watching everyone around as if to say, 'Hey, be careful, or I'll put you in jail.'

An Asian male reporter said, "This time, the LAPD did go overboard, but I've got some info that George wasn't clean, he had quite a criminal record."

A black female reporter disagreed, "Hey, Kim, you're wrong.

No matter if George had a criminal record before, he has received his due sanctions, and everyone should be treated equally. That's not an excuse for the LAPD's violent law enforcement.

If George gets out of the hospital, I will be the first one to interview him.

The black male reporter said, "Come on, by the time he gets out of the hospital, it'll be old news. If there's a chance, I'll sneak into the hospital to interview him at the earliest opportunity.

Only by getting firsthand news can you be a qualified reporter."

The white female reporter agreed, "You're right. Anyway, LAPD is in trouble this time."

Pari Jones listened for a few minutes but didn't join the discussion or linger too long. She left the pantry with a hint of disdain on her lips, "A bunch of useless people, still scrambling to interview George.

Suddenly, Pari felt a sense of superiority.

It seemed that everyone hadn't received the news; only she knew about George's death.

Pari took a deep breath; she knew this was an opportunity. If she made good use of it, she could stand out and no longer have to squeeze into the shared office space with these people.

She wanted to be the first reporter to announce George's death.

But then, she had promised Marcus...

After finishing her coffee, Pari made up her mind, her eyes revealing determination, as she stood up and walked towards the deputy director's office.

In life, there are only a few opportunities to change your destiny.

Miss them, and they're gone forever.
