Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth Chapter 851

Robbery and Murder Department Interrogation Room.

Georgia Gray was brought into the interrogation room. She looked at Luke sitting across the interrogation table, then glanced at Jackson, her face showing a mournful expression, "Haven't you found the real murderer yet?"

This woman spoke nonsense, yet was adept at deception. Luke couldn't be bothered to waste words with her, so he directly took out a tablet and played that 'silent movie'.

Seeing the familiar video, Georgia Gray deflated like a punctured balloon, her expression changed repeatedly, and finally, she just sighed in defeat.

With video evidence, no matter how eloquent she was, she couldn't clear herself of the murder charge.

Luke pointed at the tablet, "Want to watch it again?"

Georgia Gray shook her head, "No need."

"Then explain, why did you kill Kilo Jones?"

"He betrayed my trust and love...

I genuinely liked him; I never intended to kill him. It was an accident, the gun went off."

"Did he install this miniature camera?"

"Why did he install the camera?"

"I asked him too. At first, he said he wanted to keep a memento, to watch when he missed me.

I'm not stupid, nor am I in my twenties anymore; naturally, I didn't believe him.

Under my questioning, he finally admitted the truth, that my husband arranged for him to come."

"What do you mean? Your husband and he were in it together?"

"That's the saddest part. I thought I had found true love, only to discover he was a con artist." Georgia Gray wiped tears from her cheeks, "What's even sadder is that he was hired by my husband."

"Why did your husband do this?"

Luke's curiosity was piqued by the gossip—did this count as putting a hat on oneself?

Thinking of movies from island countries, some men indeed had such perverted hobbies.

"I signed a prenuptial agreement with my husband. If he cheated, besides alimony, he had to leave me the villa in Los Angeles.

If I cheated, he wouldn't have to pay alimony, and the house would be his.

I think that was his goal."

Luke said, "He wanted to divorce you?"

Since last year, our marriage started having problems, but I never thought of divorcing, nor did I expect he would be determined to divorce.

Never expected him to use such despicable means, even hiring a man to seduce me and secretly record evidence of our intimacy.

The two most important men in my life teamed up to deceive me.

When I learned all this... I was almost furious."

"Does your husband know about you killing Kilo Jones?"

"How could I let him know? He schemed against me. If he found out, he'd definitely call the police."

Luke asked, "Who handled Kilo Jones' body?"

"I handled it alone. Being inexperienced, it wasn't until I reached the area near Highway 1 that I realized I'd forgotten to bring a shovel, and there was a corpse in the car trunk. I was so nervous, I hastily dumped the body near Highway 1, using some vegetation to cover it.

If I had been more careful then, the outcome might not have been this way," Georgia Gray lamented.

"We discovered Kilo Jones' body because someone reported him missing. Even if his body hadn't been found, the police would still investigate the case," Luke said, though he knew the intensity of the investigation would be different.

"Wasn't Kilo Jones sent by your husband? He disappeared suddenly, didn't your husband notice?"

"After it happened, I was worried about that, observing his reactions all the time. Later, I felt the connection between him and Kilo Jones wasn't as close as I imagined.

They should have had a long-term arrangement, not frequent contact."

Luke asked, "Why did you decide to kill your husband?"

"On December 29th, a neighbor I got along with contacted me, saying the police had come to investigate my house.

I knew then that things might have come to light.

If I didn't want to die, I had to find another 'culprit'. After considering for a long time, there was no one more suitable than my husband.

Once he's dead, I'd be safe.

Once he's dead, the property would be mine.

It's the best result," Georgia Gray wiped her tears, choking up, "I didn't want to kill either, they forced me."

"How did you kill Kilo Jones?"

"I poisoned the wine; after he drank it, he was poisoned to death. Then I disposed of the poisoned wine bottle and replaced it with one filled with sleeping pills.

This was my second crime, much more composed than the first. I transported his body to the wilderness and buried it. This time, I brought a shovel and buried all the evidence.

Then I hid in a secret room, pretending to have been imprisoned.

I thought it was foolproof..." Georgia Gray closed her eyes, a sense of helplessness in her tone, "How did you find the body?"

Luke said, "Your learning ability is strong; we indeed spent a lot of effort this time."

"Is that a compliment?"

Luke didn't answer. The Highway 1 body dumping case, the case of the killed patrol officer, the stolen painting case—three indirectly intertwined and complex cases. Finally, one of them had been clarified.

Among them, the body in the Highway 1 case—Kilo Jones—and the killed patrol officer died from the same gun. This clue might become a breakthrough in the patrol officer's murder case.

Luke tentatively asked, "Where did you get the gun that killed Kilo Jones?"
