Love letters are not allowed in the exorcism notebook! Chapter 428

428: Chapter 6: Listen to the Experts on Professional Issues 428: Chapter 6: Listen to the Experts on Professional Issues No matter what the principle, if it needs to be explained again in order to be understood, then it certainly doesn’t apply to 99.9% of the toiling masses, no matter how correct it might sound.

Take love, for example.

Wang Yunxiao stood at the entrance of the hospital, watching as a man who hadn’t yet given up the ghost was carried out onto the street, laid in the cold, muddy water, while his wife desperately embraced him in her arms, kneeling in the rain and unleashing a cry of despair.

Her wailing was drowned out by the torrential downpour.

At that moment, just behind Wang Yunxiao, the doctor who had decided to stop treating her husband leaned against the window ledge of the security office, leisurely making a phone call.

“Busy, of course busy, almost driven mad with it.

You wouldn’t believe how many patients are out there…

Stay safe at home too, be mindful of hygiene, and don’t you dare drink unboiled water…”

“What fooling around?

You’re not even looking at the weather outside!

Be good, when the rain stops, I’ll take you to the movies…

Okay, okay, I’ll buy it for you, I’ll buy it for you.

If not for you, then who else?”

While he chatted away on the phone, his other hand was tucked in his pocket, unconsciously swirling a vial of medicine around.

Antibacterial drugs were already expensive, and it was foreseeable that they would only become more so as scarcity increased.

What cost one and a half yuan per Potion today might go up to two yuan, or even five yuan, tomorrow.

even if the man thrown out could afford the medicine today, he had no intention of selling it to him.

Of course, these things could only be done, not said; saying it out loud would be embarrassing for everyone.

But by doing without saying, no one could find any fault with him.

If anyone dared to accuse him, he could claim he wanted to save the medicine for those who could be saved.

As for who could be saved, that was a judgment only he could make.

You say they can be saved?

Then you go and prescribe the medicine; it’s none of my business.

For a bright student returning from studying abroad, using one’s expertise to make a bit of living expense money to supplement family income was all too easy.

The common folk had no clue about the intricacies involved; other than praying for God to open His eyes, they had no other recourse.

Wang Yunxiao watched the doctor beside him who kept on gabbing away, slowly clenching his fists.

He felt like hitting someone, but doctors were already in short supply, and knocking one out at this juncture would be a terrible loss.

Medicine had to be used anyway, saving someone was still saving… He could only comfort himself thus.

The sound of a military vehicle’s engine sprung up at the entrance; Wang Yunxiao looked up to see two small figures in bamboo hats and straw capes running toward the entrance.

With just a glance, Wang Yunxiao knew that the person running in front was Li Mumu.

Eldest Miss Li was still holding an umbrella in her hand, but the umbrella was pointless in this weather except for showing off.

It was a wonder where she managed to procure such rain gear.

Li Mumu, dragging Jiang Yinyin by the hand, didn’t stop until they were under the eaves, then she took off her bamboo hat and sighed with relief.

Damn it, I almost got drowned by this rain!

Then she heard Wang Yunxiao’s angry voice, “What are you doing running around in such heavy rain!”

“When I left, it was clearing up!”

Li Mumu felt aggrieved; who could have expected the Dragon King to lack martial virtue, to deceive, to launch a sneak attack?

Stuck in the dorm for days almost growing mold and mushrooms, she saw the sun and thought it would clear up for a while.

Who knew the clouds would move faster than her walk; she hadn’t gone two streets from the school gate when she was caught in the downpour.

She’d waited over an hour at a roadside bookstore, hurriedly setting out once the rain paused, only for it to start falling again a few steps later.

“I happened to run into a military vehicle on the road.

I said I could nurse, wanted to come help at the hospital, and the guys pulled me over, even gave us two sets of rain gear!”

Li Mumu picked up her parasol hat with delight, showing it off to Wang Yunxiao.

She was originally going to rush the order at the Church, but with this damned weather, she reckoned the trip would be practically meaningless.

When Li Mumu claimed she knew nursing, Wang Yunxiao thought she was just bragging, crafting a persona for herself; however, after observing her for a while, he realized she genuinely had some skills.

Not to mention finding a vein for an IV in one smooth motion – her level of expertise was far beyond that of an average hospital intern nurse.

Only those who’ve never experienced the agony of being sick, the nurse pressing down on their hand to jab a needle in a dozen times, can’t truly appreciate how formidable her technique was.

Wang Yunxiao had one quality, he never doubted an expert’s judgment on issues within their field.

He only questioned the authenticity of the expert.

“How’s the situation at the hospital?

I heard the guys on the bus talking about it…”

Li Mumu began to speak but stopped midway when she caught a glimpse of the couple kneeling in the corner, prompting a frown.

As she watched the man struggle to lift his hand, trying to wipe the tears and rain from his wife’s face, she couldn’t help but ask Wang Yunxiao, “They’re still breathing, and yet have given up on treatment?

Is it because their family has no money, or is there really no hope left?”

Wang Yunxiao glanced at the doctor still chatting away on the phone behind him and whispered in the direction of the couple with a nudge of his lips, “I can’t tell, have a look for yourself.”

Li Mumu put her parasol hat back on and walked into the rain, approaching the couple.

Ever since she had pointed a gun at that mother and child in the hospital, intimidating them, she had been left with a sense of guilt, always feeling uncomfortable in her heart.

The child had a tumor in his chest, which was undoubtedly a terminal illness given the current medical conditions – certain death upon surgery, not even able to leave the bed.

Whether this mystical thing could cure or not, she couldn’t say, but if she were in that mother’s place, she would have made the same decision, even more drastic perhaps.

Now seeing another family in a similar plight, Li Mumu’s compassion was stirred.

“Auntie, what illness does uncle have?”

Actually, there was no need to ask; his complexion and the smell on him told her almost all she needed to know.

When the man saw Li Mumu approaching, he quickly waved his hand, “Don’t come any closer!”

The woman, while crying, also motioned with her hands, “Miss, stay away, this is a contagious disease; there’s no saving him…”

Li Mumu was not afraid, for she knew cholera wasn’t transmitted through contact.

She grabbed the man’s wrist, felt his pulse, and said in surprise, “Who told you it’s hopeless?

Did the hospital run out of medicine?”

A flicker of hope passed through the woman’s eyes as she quickly replied, “The doctor said there’s no saving him…”

He’s talking nonsense…

Li Mumu released her grip and ran back to Wang Yunxiao, speaking softly, “I think there’s nothing serious with that uncle, if he doesn’t have any other conditions and it’s just a cholera infection…”

Before she could finish, the doctor at the door put down the phone, walked over, and scolded sharply, “Which department’s nurse are you?

Who gave you the authority to see patients?

What do you know to spout nonsense here?”
