The cold and stern man leaning on the back of the chair didn’t even glance at her, his face still tense, expressionless, “I don’t want to hear you talk.”
She really didn’t do it on purpose, she just forgot. It was okay that Li Beijue got angry at first, but as he remained , she felt uncomfortable as well. Furrowing her eyebrows, she suddenly said to the driver in front, “Stop the car.”
“What are you going to do!” The man radiating a cold air finally deigned to look at her, his eyebrows furrowing.
The driver slowly pulled the car over to the side.
Chi Enen reached out to pull on the car door, her face taut as she said, “I want to get out.”
A storm suddenly gathered in Li Beijue’s eyes, almost swirling into a vortex. Abruptly, he reached out and grabbed her wrist.
Chi Enen had blurted it out in a fit of pique and didn’t actually intend to get out of the car. She turned her head back, calmly saying, “Didn’t you not want to hear me speak? If I get out of the car, you won’t be able to hear me anymore.”
Li Beijue clenched his teeth in anger!
In that moment, he almost wanted to strangle her to death!
Chi Enen observed his livid face but he didn’t say anything else about her shutting up. Seizing the opportunity, she explained, “I really just forgot yesterday. Last night, when I was about to tell you, the baby woke up. His interruption made me forget to tell you. You were tired in the evening, fell asleep as soon as you touched the bed after dinner, and I failed to remember it even more. Today, when Sheng Aiyi brought up equestrianism, I just remembered the doctor’s advice. I wasn’t trying to deceive you. If I wanted to lie to you, I would’ve simply denied being pregnant.”
“That’s because you were afraid horse riding would affect the child!” His face was still grim.
Chi Enen didn’t know what to say to him anymore, “I could find other reasons not to ride, why would I have to admit to being pregnant?”
“I could say I’m not feeling well, that I got my ‘period’…”
“You still have 8 days before that happens.” He was intimately aware of her menstruation schedule.
Chi Enen felt awkward and changed the subject, “I was just making an analogy. If I really didn’t want to tell you, why would I bring it up myself, right?”
Li Beijue’s falcon-like eyes, sharp as if they could see through someone’s heart, stared intently into Chi Enen’s eyes, seemingly discerning the sincerity within her words. Soon, he released Chi Enen’s wrist and said to the driver, “Drive.”
The driver, still somewhat confused, restarted the car.
He was uncertain whether to continue to the hospital or head back to Zijing Garden, mustering the courage to ask, “Master Jue, now…”
“To the hospital.” These three words were still delivered in a hard tone.
Chi Enen, who had just begun to hope that he believed her, heard him mention the hospital and pursed her lips, no longer wanting to speak.
All she could say, she had said. Whether he believed her or not was up to him.
The Bentley quietly made its way to the City Hospital entrance.
Li Beijue had made a phone call to someone on the road, and by the time they reached the hospital, they were allowed to pass through without hindrance, heading straight to the Gynecology Department.
He didn’t even bother to register and just took Chi Enen inside.
The female doctor at the outpatient clinic was the same one who had treated Chi Enen yesterday. Upon seeing Chi Enen, she paused, “Eh, didn’t you just come in yesterday?”
Pulled along by Li Beijue, Chi Enen didn’t know how to answer.
Li Beijue, his handsome face stern and devoid of any extra expression, commanded the female doctor, “Give her a comprehensive check-up!”
Chi Enen suddenly looked at him, disbelieving, “Li Beijue, I had a checkup yesterday.” He couldn’t possibly doubt whether she was pregnant, could he?
