She had just opened her mouth to speak when her abdomen suddenly twitched. She was startled, her face turning deathly pale as she reached for her stomach.
Seeing her actions and expressions, Quan Dongting guessed what she was nervous about and immediately said, “Your child is fine.”
“Fine?” Chi Enen subconsciously looked at him.
Quan Dongting watched her with eyes full of tenderness, “Yes, fine. The doctor just checked and said you’ve protected the child in your stomach very well.”
Chi Enen let out a sigh of relief and said earnestly, “Mr. Quan, thank you for saving me. I don’t know how to thank you for rescuing me twice. I’m truly very grateful and will certainly express my gratitude to the fullest when I get the chance. But right now, I have something important to do at the Hilton Hotel, and if I don’t go back soon, someone will be looking for me…” Li Beijue would be looking for her. If he discovered she was missing, he would surely go mad searching for her!
Chi Enen’s heart clenched, she couldn’t calm down. As she spoke, she tried to sit up and reached out to pull the hypodermic needle from the back of her hand.
Quan Dongting, however, narrowed his eyes and held her hand, “I’m afraid I can’t let you go back.”
“Why?” Chi Enen asked, and her heart had already flicked through numerous possibilities.
Quan Dongting’s mixed features were deep and well-defined, handsome and three-dimensional. His tea-colored pupils rested on Chi Enen’s face, and he sighed, “Because someone is trying to harm you.”
She had assumed the honourable Duke from the Habsden family would say it was because he wanted to detain her for business dealings with Li Beijue.
She didn’t expect him to say something .
Chi Enen was somewhat astounded and felt it was a bit absurd.
“I’m just an ordinary citizen, who would want to harm me?”
She had no money, no connections, and no beauty. Why would someone harm her?
“Didn’t you notice the car you were driving had been tampered with?” Quan Dongting’s thin lips parted slightly, and a flash of bone-chilling ruthlessness crossed his face. It seemed he was extremely annoyed with the situation.

Seeing his serious demeanor, Chi Enen paused and explained, “That car isn’t mine.”
The car belonged to Li Beijue. If someone wanted to harm, they aimed at Li Beijue. It was just an oversight that she had driven that car!
The thought of someone lurking in the shadows wanting to harm Li Beijue made it impossible for her to stay there any longer. She pulled away from the man, removed the syringe, and was about to get up, “I’m sorry, Mr. Quan, but I really have to go.”
Quan Dongting hadn’t expected her to actually remove the needle that was in the middle of an intravenous infusion, and disregard her own health to get up. He suddenly grabbed her wrist, furrowing his eyebrows, “I said someone is trying to harm you, you can’t leave!”
“It’s not me they want to harm, it’s…” Chi Enen didn’t want to reveal her relationship with Li Beijue to him.
“You’re talking about Li Beijue?” Quan Dongting’s eyebrows deepened further, and his gaze swept obviously across her flat abdomen before stating, “No, their target is you, not Li Beijue. I can’t tell you the specific reasons for the time being, but remember, I won’t harm you.”
His honorable status and yet he helped her again and again, with such a strange attitude towards her, Chi Enen found it hard not to be suspicious.
