Chi Enen sat on the sofa waiting, and after about 20 minutes, there was still no sign of anyone coming down from upstairs, which made her a bit uneasy and she glanced at her watch with a sense of unease.
The villa’s living room was extremely quiet, the servants were all busy with their own tasks, and the butler stood straight behind her position, not a single person spoke.
“That…” Chi Enen was really getting impatient, wanting to ask if she could go upstairs herself.
As soon as she began to speak, the butler immediately came before her and bowed with perfect etiquette, “Does Miss Chi have any instructions?”
His interruption left Chi Enen momentarily forgetting what she wanted to ask.
Footsteps suddenly came from upstairs.
Chi Enen breathed a sigh of relief and looked up, indeed seeing the arrogant man emerging at the top of the spiral staircase. Apart from not holding Nuonuo, he looked no different than when he arrived, but he seemed to have a graver complexion.
He walked down the staircase, reached Chi Enen, and without waiting for her to ask, spoke reluctantly, “Chi Enen, we might have to stay here tonight.”
Chi Enen, startled, furrowed her brows and asked him, “Why?”
The thought alone made Li Beijue annoyed!
The last thing he wanted was for Chi Enen to stay, but now they had to stay because Nuonuo needed to be here.
“Nuonuo’s fever hasn’t subsided, and it’s also too late now; after her fever goes down, she’ll need rest. Likewise, you need rest too.”
“There’s no ‘but,’ it’s settled!” Li Beijue, afraid that she would keep objecting and unwilling to stay any longer here, was ready to take her away immediately!
His noble falcon-like eyes landed on the butler, naturally displaying a commanding aura, “Where’s the guest room?”
“Guest room?” The butler thought for a moment, then quickly led the way to the front, “Please follow me.”
Li Beijue didn’t give Chi Enen a chance to speak, grabbing her and following the butler’s steps.
The villa’s guest room was on the first floor, the one in the very middle. The room was about 30 square meters, with its own bathroom, and the 2-meter big bed looked neat and clean, exuding a comfortable feeling.
Li Beijue frowned, his gaze sweeping over the brand-new sheets and quilt, just about to ask for a new set to be put on.
Then he suddenly remembered this was not a hotel, nor Zijing Garden, but Xi Zelie’s villa. His thin lips formed a straight line, and he asked the butler to step out first.
Once the butler stepped out, he immediately closed the door.
That impatience felt as if there were some floods and ferocious beasts outside.
Chi Enen, worried about Li Yinuo, said, “Nuonuo’s fever hasn’t gone down? Is she upstairs? Let me go take a look.”
No sooner had she spoken than her wrist was grasped, and the man’s chilly voice came through, “Don’t bother, Xi Zelie is upstairs, he’ll take care of it!”
The terms they were to discuss had already been settled; that man would definitely take good care of Nuonuo.
And, more importantly! With that man upstairs, how could he possibly allow Chi Enen to go up?!
Chi Enen was unable to break free from his grip, and finally unable to bear it, she stepped in front of him, looked him straight in the eyes, and with furrowed brows asked, “Li Beijue, what exactly is going on? Weren’t we supposed to return to Rainy City? Why did we suddenly come back? And why are we here, what did you and Xi Zelie discuss?”
“You don’t need to know,” he turned his head away, unwilling to answer.
Yet Chi Enen insisted again, looking into his eyes, “But I want to know!”
