Qin Qin and her two companions walked ahead, with Huang Jinhong and Leng Yan following leisurely behind.
Gan Tiantian looked back unhappily, glared at Huang Jinhong. Huang Jinhong waved at Gan Tiantian and shamelessly said, "Junior Sister Gan, what a coincidence, are you also taking this route?"
"Coincidence my ass! You’re clearly following us." Gan Tiantian, usually rather polite, let out a swear word, leaving Mu Chienchien and Qin Qin somewhat stunned; it was their first time seeing Gan Tiantian curse.
Huang Jinhong looked aggrieved, "Junior Sister Gan, you look so refined, how could you swear at someone? It really is a coincidence!"
Gan Tiantian turned her head away, not wanting to deal with the thick-skinned Huang Jinhong.
"Qin Qin, they’re following us." Gan Tiantian clung to Qin Qin’s arm, puffing her lips as she spoke.
Qin Qin looked back and, upon seeing Qin Qin turn her head, Huang Jinhong enthusiastically greeted her, "Junior Sister Qin, I told you we were fated."
Qin Qin ignored Huang Jinhong, her gaze met with Leng Yan’s starry eyes, and she calmly retracted her look.
Mu Chienchien also eyed the two men behind them, her brows slightly furrowed. She knew Leng Yan as someone arrogant who rarely cared about others, and now he was actually following them along with Huang Jinhong, which left her almost confused about the situation.
Qin Qin’s gaze was fixed on something in the distance. There, an elderly man about sixty years old stood, his eyes sharp and scrutinizing, seemingly assessing his surroundings with a malicious look. Qin Qin’s eyes lit up with a purple glow; a minute later, the purple light faded and a smile curled on her lips.
"Qin Qin, what are you smiling about?" Gan Tiantian saw Qin Qin looking at a plainly dressed elderly woman not far ahead.
Qin Qin turned to Gan Tiantian, whispering a few words in her ear.
Gan Tiantian’s eyes sparkled as she nodded in agreement, then she moved closer to Mu Chienchien’s ear to pass on the message. Mu Chienchien pressed her lips together, smiling and nodding along.
Behind them, Huang Jinhong touched his chin, then prodded Leng Yan, "What do you think those three are huddling together for? I have the feeling they’re talking about me!"
Leng Yan turned his head towards Huang Jinhong, his handsome face breaking into a carefree grin, "Hmm, maybe they’re bad-mouthing you, figuring out how to deal with you together."
Huang Jinhong jumped, clutching onto Leng Yan, "These junior sisters are so violent? They all look so refined, especially Junior Sister Qin, that momentum when she hits people, and that smile that isn’t quite a smile, both are so chilling. And to think someone dared to call her a gold digger! I swear, if she were that kind of person, I’d chop off my own head and let that person kick it like a ball."
Leng Yan pushed Huang Jinhong’s hands away with disdain, "If you don’t take your hands off now, I won’t need to chop off your head, I’ll do the honors."
"Leng Yan, after all, I’m your good friend, do you have to be so heartless? Hey, hey, hey, they’re quickening their pace, hurry up and follow." Huang Jinhong patted Leng Yan on the shoulder and walked forward.
When Qin Qin and company were about a meter away from the elderly woman, they saw the elderly man suddenly fall to the ground and start howling in pain.
Qin Qin, Gan Tiantian, and Mu Chienchien stopped in their tracks, exchanging glances filled with mockery and anticipation of a good show.
"Ouch, I’m in so much pain, kind-hearted girls, please help me up." The elderly woman on the ground seemed truly in agony, occasionally touching her leg.
Gan Tiantian and Mu Chienchien sneered; had it not been for Qin Qin’s prior warning, they really might have been soft-hearted enough to help the woman up.
Qin Qin was the first to walk around the woman on the ground. The woman was startled, seemingly unable to understand how these seemingly soft-hearted girls could just pass her by.
When Gan Tiantian and Mu Chienchien also walked past her, the old woman’s expression darkened. She thought, as she lay on the ground, were these people blind? How could they not help her up?
"Aiyo, what’s wrong with society these days? Seeing an old person like me on the ground and not one person helps? Oh, the pain." The elderly woman lay on the ground, crying as if her heart was breaking, while Gan Tiantian and Mu Chienchien coldly snorted in disdain. Qin Qin glanced at the acting woman one more time before she prepared to walk on.
"Junior sisters, how can you be ? This elderly woman has fallen, how can none of you help her up?" Huang Jinhong said with a slight frown. He and Leng Yan were far away and blocked by Qin Qin and the others, so he didn’t notice the situation with the elderly woman ahead and assumed Qin Qin and the others didn’t want to help her up.
