Loh Bixin, Lao Wan, and Xu Jing felt somewhat afraid deep inside, with Xu Jing so terrified she nearly couldn’t stand on her feet. Being reprimanded by the university was no trivial matter, and most importantly, it was incredibly embarrassing.
But as soon as the trio thought of the bracelet indeed being in Qin Qin’s possession, their fear dissipated quite a bit.
"What if they deliberately framed me?!"
Mr. Lee’s expression darkened, "If they intentionally framed you, Beijing University would never allow such a disgraceful student to remain. Of course, expulsion it would be."
"Good!" Qin Qin nodded in satisfaction.
"Mr. Lee, then if the bracelet is found on Qin Qin, does that mean she will also be expelled?" Lao Wan asked urgently. Initially, they just wanted to tarnish Qin Qin’s reputation, but expelling her would be even better, of course.
Mr. Lee nodded, and Lao Wan along with Loh Bixin smiled happily.
"Then let’s search her quickly. It’s in the right pocket of Qin Qin’s clothes," Lao Wan said proudly, pointing to the right pocket of Qin Qin’s clothing.
"Hold on," a light voice interrupted, and everyone turned towards Qin Qin who was speaking.
"What tricks are you trying to play now?" Lao Wan frowned and glared at Qin Qin.
Qin Qin’s lips twitched into a smile, her beautiful eyes as clear as water but with a hint of sharpness that was hard to detect. She looked at Xu Jing, who was keeping her head down, "Mr. Lee, I want to report someone."
"Whom do you want to report?"
Qin Qin lifted her slender finger towards the downcast Xu Jing, "I want to report her!"
"What? Why would you report me?" Xu Jing looked anxiously at Qin Qin, stepping back fearfully, "It was clearly you who stole the bracelet, why would you report me?"
At this point, Xu Jing no longer cared about the unease of her conscience, dumping the bracelet incident on Qin Qin.
"Why would I report you? Of course, because I saw you take Loh Bixin’s bracelet, and it’s in the left pocket," Qin Qin whispered.
Xu Jing’s face changed, and many around watched her, their eyes filled with suspicion. Many knew Xu Jing came from a poor background, so she might well have been a potential thief.
"No, I didn’t, I didn’t steal the bracelet, I’ll show you," Xu Jing reached towards her left side, then her hand stiffened suddenly, her face turning pale and ugly.
Mu Chienchien, who was standing beside Xu Jing, saw her odd expression, grabbed Xu Jing’s left hand and pulled it out, revealing a platinum diamond bracelet before everyone’s eyes, which due to Xu Jing’s shaky hand, fell to the ground.
Loh Bixin’s and Lao Wan’s expressions drastically shifted upon seeing the bracelet on the ground. How could this be? Wasn’t the bracelet supposed to be on Qin Qin? How did it end up with Xu Jing?
"How could this be? No, it’s not me!" Xu Jing, unsteady on her feet, shook her head desperately, trembling with fear.
"The evidence is conclusive, yet you still deny it," Mr. Lee shouted at Xu Jing, who nearly collapsed to the ground in fright.
"I didn’t, Mr. Lee, believe me, I really didn’t steal the bracelet," Xu Jing shook her head vigorously, hoping that Mr. Lee would believe her.
The crowd murmured amongst themselves, looking towards Xu Jing, whose face grew increasingly pale.
"Tomorrow, I will expel Xu Jing to clear your name," Mr. Lee said to Qin Qin, no longer glancing at Xu Jing.
"No, it’s not me, Loh Bixin and Lao Wan put me up to it, they told me to frame Qin Qin; Mr. Lee, it was Loh Bixin and Lao Wan who made me frame Qin Qin," in this moment, Xu Jing was concerned with nothing but ensuring Mr. Lee wouldn’t expel her. As long as she could stay at Beijing University, everything else could be dealt with. At worst, she would incur the resentment of Loh Bixin and Lao Wan. She couldn’t leave Beijing University; without it, she had nothing. Her family had been so proud of her acceptance, and everyone had envied her; if they found out she was expelled upon her return, she would be the subject of everyone’s gossip. How could she ever hold her head high again.
"Nonsense, Xu Jing, so it was you who stole it," Loh Bixin shouted at Xu Jing, irate that the useless Xu Jing had backstabbed them.
Lao Wan glared at Xu Jing with a sinister look, "Xu Jing, you stole the bracelet and even made us wrongfully accuse Qin Qin, how despicable," she said through gritted teeth. The damned Xu Jing had been inadequate and caused more problems than she solved, failing to plant the bracelet on Qin Qin. Instead, they were now the ones under scrutiny.
Now they couldn’t frame Qin Qin; they would have to find another way to deal with her later.
"I didn’t, Mr. Lee, believe me, oh, I have a recording of when Loh Bixin and Lao Wan approached me," she had feared that after the deed was done, Loh Bixin and Lao Wan would bully her like before, so she had taken precautions and recorded their conversation.
