Lynch’s mind raced, beginning to ponder the situation he was witnessing. Most evident was that this was undoubtedly a trap, a massive trap aimed at the first family. From Briza’s words earlier, the second family had long been prepared for this attack. These bodies certainly weren’t gathered in a rush. They must have had a plan set to counter Batana’s assault.
From this perspective, the chaotic resistance outside the residence must be staged. Briza could deliberately sacrifice those outer Drow guards to achieve this effect. And the scant defense in the Audience Room was surely a snare. The second family’s show of weakness could only have one purpose: to draw the first family deeper into the core of the residence.
