Mage Legend Chapter 275

"Mages are not welcomed in Haisas, and this relates to the war from a thousand years ago." Wislin began recounting past events.

Haisas was not originally a separate country as it is now; at that time, it was always under the rule of Mage Lords. During the Great Arcane period, Haisas became renowned for its rich agricultural produce and exquisite handicrafts. The gems and minerals in the mountains were countless, and many Great Mages lived on this land, making it extremely prosperous. At that time, Haisas was called ’Paradise’ by people from other parts of the continent.

However, the war that the Arcanists waged against the gods changed everything. Situated at the center of the continent, Haisas became the main battlefield, and controlling the adjacent Five Realms Mountain Range could strangle the throats of others. The Arcanists cast terrifying spells here, drawing energy from the fertile land to build a dreadful undead army. This army tirelessly mined the once-rich resources of Haisas, depleting the mountains of their treasures.

During the battle with the gods, many undead perished under the Divine Power, their foul energies turning the land into barren red soil. All the vegetation gradually died because they couldn’t extract any nutrients from the ashen soil; the river and well water became poisonous, contaminated with residual undeath energy; plagues spread everywhere, and those who caught these mysterious diseases could only sit on the land and await death. The population of Haisas drastically declined, with only a fortunate few hiding in the Underworld to escape this catastrophe.

When the war ended, those who had been away from home for many years began to return, only to find ruins and rubble before them. It took hundreds of years of harsh living before the influence of mages and the undead slowly dissipated. This place, once the stronghold of Arcanists, no longer had a Mage Tower standing tall among the clouds—the homeland was destroyed, and the enraged populace demolished all buildings related to mages, declaring that mages were a plague, bringing only disaster.

In the stories children in Haisas heard from a young age, mages always played the role of the villain, akin to demons from Hell or nightmares destroying the world. In the hearts of the people of Haisas, the term "mage" forever signifies terror and destruction.

On the entire Anriel Continent, this is probably the most mage-excluding place. From the populace to their rulers, there is no fondness for mages. A decree once existed here: "Mage, execute." Although in practice, it was almost impossible to capture a mage, anyone associated with mages could not escape in Haisas.

"Now, you understand why Lynch is angry, right?" Wislin said, "Morgan and I came to prepare to take his mother away after the funeral. Otherwise, living here alone is incredibly dangerous for her."

Nimo nodded, finally understanding the entire story. Although he was somewhat worried, fearing things might develop in a bad direction, on the other hand, as long as Lynch was around, he was sure to find a way to solve the problem.

"If you ask me, if anyone offends you, you should take care of them." Zilvra said casually, "That’s the simplest solution."

Deluo chuckled, "That way will never truly solve the issue."

"But it’s better than you having no solution at all." Zilvra thought for a moment and shouted upstairs, "Soka, are you ready? I’ll take you out to play!"

The little angel fluttered down from upstairs, stumbling as he slid to Zilvra’s feet, "Where are we going? Where are we going?"

After the two left, everyone’s gaze returned upstairs. Mage Lynch remained there, with no commotion, waiting for him to come down. Wislin was still pondering where to safely take Lynch’s mother. The place he was most familiar with was the Holy Pate Empire, but there, a war with the beastmen was raging, and the threat of death could strike at any moment.

This eerie atmosphere lingered until evening when Lynch helped his mother downstairs. The mage had regained his calm, once more donning his mage robe, no longer draped in that ridiculous servant robe.
