Mage Manual Chapter 338

Liss didn’t speak, or rather, she refused to speak, sniffing repeatedly. It wasn’t until Ash asked a second time that she grumbled unhappily, “I haven’t learned it!”

“Uh–would you like to learn?”

“Huh?” Liss looked at Ash with confusion, “Will you teach me?”

“I haven’t learned it either, so I can’t teach you.”

Liss didn’t speak, just looked at Ash with an expression that said, ‘So you’re here to cause trouble, huh?’ Ash shrugged, “But we could learn from Banjee once we’ve settled down. How about we both learn gun technique from Banjee then? I wonder if Banjee has any gun technique skills that he ‘definitely plans to teach his kids’…”

Liss also remembered the cabinet full of games Banjee kept for ‘playing with kids in the future’ and couldn’t help but let out a snicker, “Maybe Brother Banjee will let us play gun technique games.”

As Ash popped out the gun bullets from the chamber and double-checked the safety, he gave the Hand Cannon back to Liss under her surprised gaze, “Unless it’s absolutely urgent, don’t use the Hand Cannon. Even if you don’t trust me, you should trust the Contract. Anyone who wants to hurt you would have to step over my dead body first.”

“You’re not taking it away?”

“You just said I wasn’t sincere, but in reality, you’ve never truly opened up.” Ash reached out and ruffled little Liss’s head, “You’ve never believed that adults would protect you; you only believe in yourself.”

“How pitiful,” he said softly, “just like Igula and Harvey.”

Liss was slightly taken aback and then shook her head vigorously, “I’m not pitiful!”

“Since you refuse to trust adults, then hold onto a weapon that can protect you. You’re a smart kid, Liss. I believe you understand what’s important,” Ash smiled, “But you’re also too smart, so sometimes you think wrong.”

“What did I think wrong?”

“You said that no one would want a daughter who only brings trouble. That’s true indeed.”

Watching Liss’s mood drop rapidly, Ash flicked her forehead lightly, “But no child only brings trouble to their parents.”

Ash couldn’t help but recall when he returned to his hometown, his elder brother always complained to him about the mischievous kids at home, hoping he would spank his nephews more since he rarely came back–his brother’s wife lived with their parents, and with grandparents to protect the kids, they behaved as if they owed the place, with the brother several times wanting to intervene but always being stopped. His brand-new Seven Wolves belt had never been ‘inaugurated.’

However, when the two had late-night snacks and chatted, his brother couldn’t help but boast to his sibling about his nephew’s participation in various competitions and show him photos of their family outings. His nephew had given him a Father’s Day gift and he was as thrilled as if he had drawn a godly card in a mobile game.

Although Ash had long become a Heartless money-making worker, watching the joy his brother couldn’t contain on his face, he felt he could empathize.

“What do you mean?” Liss, covering her forehead, was a bit puzzled.

“It means you won’t even call me ‘Daddy,'” Ash stood up and laughed.

What used to be a casual title in the past, Liss now found embarrassingly difficult to say, only clutching at Ash’s sleeve without letting go.

With Banjee’s joyful voice, a portal suddenly appeared on the hillside, with a staircase leading down into the ground. Everyone hurriedly pushed their bicycles in, and as they descended, lamps along the staircase lit up one after another, like a tardy knock at the door, awakening the sleeping Master.

When they reached the end, what appeared before them was a fully equipped underground room.

“We can finally take a break.”

Hanna took a long breath in relief and went to lie down on the modular sofa, lazily rolling a few turns before sitting up and announcing to everyone, “Welcome to my grandfather’s crypt.”
